Here we go again, the "poor Pap" argument. How many times have we had this? Just to repeat - the request here is nothing more than removing Pap's mod status so that people who prefer not to read his posts can put him on ignore. Simple and easy and Pap has said that he's happy with the compromise.
After cosulting with Rob Lay over the course of the day, it aint gunna happen IanB. Rob is happy to keep my current mod status, as I am a mod in other sections also which he nor I want to stop moderating. He also said he doesnt think he can make it able for you guys to put me on ignore in this section alone. So, it seems like you are all going to have to be big boys and suck it up.
that is a crock of self-serving **** Pap and you know it. The truth is that your petty mod status trip is a big deal for you and you could care less what the contributors to the Aussie section think.
well I know from my time as mod that you can have your privileges limited to specific sections but your status will always appear as mod anywhere on the forum so what he says is right. The problem is the software, if he makes him a mod in any section it precludes "normal" users putting them on ignore in ANY section. The software is just not flexible enough There have been plenty of mods I would have loved to put on ignore and have even got them voted off the island eventually
Yeah, I know, thought I'd ask nicely I still don't understand how Pap ever became a Mod and before that a consultant, of what spam and double smiley faces? It's a joke and it's not funny
Why not just compromise. Have a thread "off-topic/BS dump thread" and let members spam as much as they like then at the end of the day all the off-topic posts all go in to the one thread. Ianb gets his way. Pap gets his way. Everybody wins.
I would also like to add, as someone who rarely posts, I find this site very amusing and entertaing at times
we had similar concerns in UK forum and gave them a OT subforum for awhile. that can be done here. Like I said usually regional forums are meant to be mostly OT fun among your mates, but since you guys don't like the rest of the world you start many on topic threads in here. y’all need to be nice and Pap will be nice, this grade school bickering isn’t getting us anywhere. Pap is a new moderator and it takes a thick skin and some experience, he’s getting there. There are nice ways to give Pap feedback and not so nice ways. In regards to what I can do I’ll look at customizing the software to put mods on ignore, but not too hopeful it can be done. I want Pap on the mod team, up to him if he wants that to include Australia. Problem right now is Modeler can’t be very active right now and besides Wax those are the only Australia mods. Can you give me the name of a single Australian mod in past that some segment of users didn’t run off? This subforum is vicious on mods. Modeler and Wax have hung in there the best.
and how are you going to stop Pap posting in the other sections ? it's not the OT that people are whining about, it's the incessant only posts the rest of the world don't understand our humour and we have our own way of dealing with them ... we put them on IGNORE we don't bicker (since certain morons have stopped posting) this is a genuine gripe about spamming, we love Pap but thecrap is pissing people off I know, was one, hated it, crybabies PMing you all the time asking for unrealistic outcomes Some of the boys here have asked in BOTH manners, nice and blunt, result = no change Most of us here go on outings together, drivedays/trackdays/rallies/meetings/GPs so we know each other well, an occasional as a post is fine as it is an acknowledgement of secret men's business between mates we don't really need a mod since the troublemakers have shut up and taken the cretins with them to another forum but when someone steps over the line (and Wax understands where the line is) it is generally dealt with fairly promptly it can be a tough place to have a chat but you need a tough and fair hide to be able to stick around, we haven't turned into pnssies like the rest of the world , we put **** on our mates and the closer they are the heavier we put it on Some people understand that , most don't from the outside
Nope, I was being genuine till I realised even if I stopped modding the Aussie section, I mod the other sections also, so you still wont be able to put me on ignore anyways. I only just realised this yesterday and I confirmed with Rob yesterday afternoon which is why I made my post saying it cant be done. I actually dont mind moderating the other sections that I do, as this one. I have no problem here, but obviously you guys do with me. And its nothing to do with being a mod, so dont crap on about that. I could have had the "pretty mod status" years ago, no big deal. So I guess we will have to all work together to get through this "rough patch" which is making the Aussie section so unpleasant at the moment. And it really is, regardless if I post or not. This is the BEST section on Ferrari Chat by far, but not at the moment. I will do my best. I will leave the spamming here up to Bailey.
Pap has only been a mod several months. Pap has been a user since 2005. Most of his 67,000 posts came before he became a mod. I want to know everyone here had Pap on ignore before he became a mod? If you did Pap would still be on your ignore list.
