Anyone know the story or history behind this "field find" on Craigslist? http://sfbay.craigslist.org/sfc/cto/2385722444.html
Now this is going to be an interesting story...... I don't see how this could sit outside for this long without being noticed. Any idea about the damages to the car from sitting in such a state? Very wet area of California, Probably some pot growers needed the garage space to start their seedlings and pushed it out of the way!
But YOURS isn't a rust bucket sitting in a field outside for years. That white car is worth NOWHERE NEAR $500k like that. Jedi
I found two FIAT Dino spyders out back of a shop, off the High Road thru Louisiana. I have told the story before.... The shop owner was insistent he was going to 'get them going' one day, so I showed him my 308GTB photos for inspiration. $500K is nuts of course.....
Probably no more rust than normal, the damage will be UV fading of all the instruments, like the "GTO in a field" I'd think the whole vinyl interior would go to dust, when touched.
Just saw the ad and I started drooling. I wish I could run across something like this in a field or something. Half a million is dreamland stuff. The car is worth $30k to $50k as it sits.
We don't know how long the car has been sitting outside. If just there for a short time, it could be substantially more
I was talking to a friend a few days ago that just finished a 246 restoration that had "some rust". The tubs trap water like you wouldn't believe. I'm betting the critical metal on the bottom side of this car is toast and will need to be completely reconstructed. It'll take $100k to get that car back together correctly.
Great to see that this one will not be lost. Hopefully someone will nurse it back to health. Hope whomever buys it doesn't overpay.
I was hoping the ask was $50K and was off by a 0. I think $50K would be a market correct starting point.
If someone paid anywhere near $500k for that thing I will laugh until an ambulance needs to come pick up my body
Probably sold to a Nigerian. Sale is pending until the seller's check clears that was necessary for exportation expenses.
