I don't think any were really hated; alot In the dislike category though....

 

Despised driver - Andrea De Ceaseris ( sp?) Probabbly the worst that was in F-1 for a long time becuase he had Marlboro Money....

Pironi was not actualy a bad guy, but ended up the villan... actually he was of the mold like Prost & Senna - Ruthless at all cost.

Schumacher was probabbly the most hated by the fans, drivers etc... becuase he kept on winning all the time.

 

Pironi broke the gentlemen's agreement he had with Villeneuve at the 84 Imola GP and stole the victory from Villeneuve. That ultimately led to Gilles' death because he got so furious on showing Pironi who is boss, that he threw away all senses in one last all or nothing qualifying lap at Zolder.

That made Pironi definitely hated by many. But it is hard to hate somebody who almost died a few months later.

On FChat it looks like Alonso is the villain for many because of his involvement with Stepneygate and the Crashgate at Singapore.

Patrese was mentioned as he was seen as the one who caused the Monza accident that claimed Peterson's life.

Moss was seen as the villain who was at least partially responsible for Gilles' death.

Hakkinen fans hated Michael A. for occupying a seat without knowing what to do with it.

De Cesaris was probably more hated by his mechanics who had to pull all nighters to put the car back together than the fans. I watched him racing and was more amused than irritated.

Senna fans hated Prost and Prost fans hated Senna. And everybody hated Mansell. And Piquet.

And today's FChatters seem to hate Lauda for every time he makes a public comment.

Who is the most despised of them all? No idea, but I sure have a candidate...

Indeed, I remember.

Some said his eyes were rolling away and he crashed when blinded for a moment.

That's very likely... I never figured how could de Cesaris carreer span a good 14 years with so many teams.

The subject of this thread really saddens me, do we really need to be discussing something like this?

 

Perhaps the most arrogant F1 rookie I can recall. Flew over for the races and then flew home... He behaved as if F1 were his birthright IMHO.

Did he even complete a lap in his first 2 or 3 starts?
