I am of the opinion that very low mileage classic cars actually require more work to make them roadworthy than cars that have accumulated 8,000-12,000 km with regular documented service. I would imagine after 20+ years of sitting, once run, there will be multiple issues to deal with. Just my opinion I am not referring to the car posted previously. Alex
THe pb w/ commentators is always the same : too much mieage, or not enough. What's the good average ? But when they do sell their own cars, it's always the 8th wonder ! How could you speculate about issues ? You do not know the car and never saw it before. There's absolutely no issue. The car has been fully serviced 4 years ago, and will be again nextly when sold.
OMG ! And why ?!!? Cause too many dreamers down there ? I knew about that. Jealous guys too. No pb. That's life. But there are too real Gentlemen who appreciate, as I do, all the nice things.
I'll play Devil's advocate here: This is all my opinion and I could be wrong, but all I believe is that the picture is a real picture, but that is all. The extensive corrosion around the gauge bezels, and even on the speedometer face under the paint are evidence of a car that is not well cared for. It appears to have been parked/stored in a poor environment with very high humidity and high heat, as that is what causes this kind or corrosion. I can't imagine an owner so anal about keeping the miles sooo low would store a car in such conditions to allow such corrosion. If the interior gauges look like this, than I cringe to think about the condition of the rest of the car. Secondly, the pushed/distorted leather behind the speedo (which means this is an '88 or '88 1/2 model year) evidences the removal and re-installation of the gauge. Evidence of removal and re-installation of a speedo showing such low miles is evidence of odometer tampering imo. (Why would a speedo with such few kilometers need repaired????) I could be wrong, and I'm not trying to pick on somebody's car, but my gut tells me that those miles are far from real. I repeat, this is all IMO. #5 Today, 11:29 AM vaholtorf Formula Junior Not Subscribed Join Date: Jul 2006 Location: Colorado Full Name: Victor Holtorf Posts: 598 Quote: Originally Posted by vaholtorf I'll play Devil's advocate here: This is all my opinion and I could be wrong, but all I believe is that the picture is a real picture, but that is all. And posting such a thing w/o knowing and seeing is all but stupid. IMO. No corrosion (!!!). Dust. I wonder why so many people are jealous about that car ?!!? A silly man from Belgium, (still Belgium around...) offered 100.000 this week !!! Why not 50 ? 5 ? Best, I give you my wife, AND the car ? ;-) #7 Today, 11:38 AM vaholtorf Formula Junior Not Subscribed Join Date: Jul 2006 Location: Colorado Full Name: Victor Holtorf Posts: 598
low mileage is always better as long as it had service from time to time, is this the car what's for sale @ 149.500?
sorry i am not jealours or a dreamer, don't want to speak bad about the car but when i look at picture with the gauges i don't see a car without issues or a 700km as new car, i see work to do. the second thing is the tyres are not the first tyres, why are they replaced with only 700km on the clock, not for using the car, because it still has the 700km on the clock.. this is just a question what every potential buyer will ask to himsellf.
just one advise if you want to sell it, have it cleaned very well, it will look waaay better then.. also if it is dust on the gauges, just have it removed in 0,5 second (?)
In order to save time , the seller may also want to look at the DOT/EPA laws, on importing an automobile into the U.S., that is less than 25 years old. It may help to disclose the importation regulations, to any potential American buyers, who are ready to pick up a telephone. American buyers, may have to consider a different car. Of course, F.C., does have enthusiasts from all over the world.
Yes, it is. The car, indeed, has to be cleaned and serviced as it's not used as it should be. But many other cars to run, including race cars. And it's more and more difficult down there to use that kind a car. Besides, we still have not events like the ones you have the chance to have in the US. However I do not appreciate buddies "breaking" other people cars. Above all when they do not know anything about them... I mean it's unfair, and not a real Gentleman behavior. But, as some say, it's only my opinion. Even if Lambo's are made w/ very bad materials. Even if some people see rust on aluminium !!! Besides, the car has always been garaged in dry regions (Madrid, and now Provence). And I'm really sorry if all the gems are not in the USA ! Such as the Pistachio Miura located in the same place. Or the fuly original fantastic SV that is in Marseille.
Yes that's correct. In fact a gentleman who I purchased the ex-Paris Salon Countach from told me that he was a passenger around Laguna Seca for a scary few hot laps with the owner of this car. All the while the Rolling Stones were playing at full volume on the stereo This is the same car that was temporarily a record holder for the ascent up the Virginia City Hillclimb event. Here it is pictured in Carson City Nevada, in a strangely appropriate setting outside the Red Garter Saloon! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Isn't it possible that you could imagine that the Owner could be first proud to share these pics ? Even if we did not take time to prepare a make up in the Californian way ? The interesting thing is that it's a low mileage car. For sale ? Yes, but it's secondary. We already know that we won't sell lobsters to people willing to pay shrimps.
Perhaps you are better off marketing this car in Europe and NOT in the USA! We are all broke here, and our country is broke too! These cars always bring more money in Europe, and I can't think of one Countach that has come INTO the USA for a few years.....they are all going OUT!!! Why waste time pushing it to the USA?
Before we go any further I ought to point out that the Annivesario under discussion is NOT eligible for importation into the USA for the simple reason (according to the DOT) that a USA version was homologated and sold here.
is this thread becoming a "for sale" tread? Isn't there another thread that is for the sale of this car?
