To answer my own question in post #6310, Yes this is the boat #50 driven by Archile Castoldi. The engine was [or is] a Ferrari 375 very modified 4 cam unit with twin supercharges, one for each bank. The superchargers are mounted at the back of the engiine each fed by one giant 4 choke down draft Weber carb. The mixture is then fed to a large manifold which sweeps up and forward over the top of the engine to the intakes. The cockpit is fitted with a 4 spoke wood rimmed[?] steefing wheel and the dash has a large center mounted tach and 4 smaller gages two on each sidel. The engine drove a single large two blade propeller which by today's standards is a very crude unit. The steering is by a single large silver colored rudder. It is clear from the picture that Castoldi is driving. He is wearing the very distinguished striped helmit he was know for. The power estimate of the engine was 550-600 HP. I have no info on the fuel used or other modifications to the internals of the engine. If anyone has this please post.. The class speed records were set on Lake Como October 15. 1953. The average speed of two runs in oposite directions was 150.49 MPH. just one man's opinion tongascrew

The first photo shows 4675GT when raced by Nember at Scalata del colle S.Eusebio on June 17 1965 with quite a different front end compared to the Lumezzane car. The second photo shows 4675GT when entered at the Rally dei Jolly Hotels October 31 1965. Obviously a rebuilt front end. Conclusion: the Lumezzane car was not 4675GT, 4675GT was reconstructed after the forementioned crash.

Are you sure that the date of S.Eusebio is exact, because the 17 june 1965 is a Thursday.

Good question. But from different sources ( including a book about ASA history) the date quoted is indeed June 17, "4 days after the Coppa Città di Asiago on June 13".

Now I don't quite follow. For me 4675GT was crashed at Camonica, then quickly repaired for Trofeo Lumezzane and then three slots added on top of the nose.

    Best wishes, Kare

According to my records Nember won this event in s/n 4675. Did the crash take place after his finish or is the picture of a different car? Also #23 is #4675 but at Monza 1966. just one man's opinion tongascrew

I have used barchetta as a starting point for my files on the cars from 1946 to 1965. Yes there are notable errors but I have found there is alot more info actually missing than in errors.. I am now copying over many pages due to the vast amount of "hand written " notes I have scribbled in over the years. This copying is all done in well spaced pencil as additions and corrections are consistantly required many from the "pundits", and you know who you are, on F Chat.I admire greatly all your contributuins and sing your praises as often as I can. I hope you don't mind if I contribute once in a while. That is what F Chat is all about. just one man's opinion tongascrew

Come on George - do the research. Look at the web-site - Nember wasn't classified.
Where do your records come from? Your own research or barchetta.cc? This looks like new information to me. Neither Pourret or Bluemel mention this crash. barchetta.cc says he finished 1st cl. which is now obviously wrong!. Therefore putting 4675GT down for the next event only two weeks later, after such a serious crash, could very well be wrong.
