What do you mean the "Californian way" ?? Don't insult anyone's intelligence. Everyone commenting here is a seasoned or long-time Countach owner with lots of experience with these cars. If the Californian way is not to show a pic of a Countach's speedo/odo with corrosion and claim it is just "dust" then you are right, you should have taken the time to refurbish the car before posting pics of something you claim has no issues. Should we not believe our eyes? Park the attitude and show a little humility when trying to solicit interest in a motorcar you are selling. You are quick to point out what you THINK might be issues with other people's cars, so please expect the same treatment. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=140523879&postcount=9718 On with the discussion gentlemen
yes, let us get off the topic of cars for sale! Regarding the Countach at Laguna Seca, that is great! I had the good fortune of riding in Steve Leffert's DD Countach (ex Roy Cats, and now owned by another forum member) around several laps of Laguna Seca. I have pics that I need to post. This car really was fast and the brakes worked great for a few hot laps and it had no trouble against the then new BMW M3s on the track with us. This was around 2002 or 2003. Talk about a great sound and great fun. I know that the brakes start to fade after a few really fast laps, but those that say the Countach is a poser are totally wrong. They really are very competent for club track days, especially given their age.
With that being the case, I would not expose your 'special' car, on this chat board. I would at least place an advertisement in the D.R., and mention price on application.
Exactly ! No reason to waste the time, of any potential American buyers, who may have ideas of importing the car into the USA. Who is jealous ?
I agree, the brakes are the Achilles Heel, but remember it is a road car, so that's what you get. However the handling and the sound are worth the experience by itself.
I am preparing to do another little shoot at this abandoned office location, so I thought to post these images of the ex-Silvera LP400 up just to change the subject although I'm not sure I will succeed in doing that! One might note that the motorcar has been prepared in the "Californian Way". Terrible. Awful. Thank you Marcel for your kind comments, I appreciate them because we are proud we took the trouble to return the car to its original glory. Money gone in the USA? Dont think so
I was wondering about the DOT rules. I NEVER have seen a Anniv downdraft in the USA. I doubt they are allowed to be imported. At least until they make it to 25 years. After the 25 years, I can see quite a bit of interest in importing downdraft Anniv. That is is the US consumer has appetite to buy a a high exchange rate. Despite the questionable look, many people like them in this country.
To get an engine that clean , I assume it has been taken entirely appart and each piece replaced or cleaned right? ther is no way an engine can get that "new" just on chimical sprayed on. Is ther a chance to get any secret here ?
No secret. The engine on the ex-Silvera LP400 was fully rebuilt and each component refurbished. All original components were re-used.
Here is car that has an engine bay that was simply cleaned. Again no, secret, just time and effort.
