So, lets elevate it beyond rhetoric, anyone want to wager that the track will be ready on time? For full disclosure, I visited the site yesterday and has the opportunity to discuss the schedule with the GC who just completed the W downtown Austin (yes it was only a only a 40 stories project...small by Texas standards!).
I'll say the track will be ready by June (nothing but dry days from here). And the main grandstand. And the minimums to pull off year one. But, that won't afford the 90 day FIA inspection. So, will it be ready by March 2012? That's one to watch.
The simple one seems delusional with all the rah rah comments. Others seem to think putting some concrete pipes on site is significant. When are you going to get back to the critical questions? 1 There are three pipelines (2 natural gas, 1 jet fuel) on site and it takes 18 months minimum just to get FERC approval to move them and that assumes you have someplace to move them to. Where's the proof that Hellmund has any of this covered including the costs? 2 Where's the money? This project ballooned from Hellmund's original claim of $150m to $250m about 6 months later. And when those claims were made he told the world he had all the money and Full Throttle needed no investors. Now the number is $400m and growing. Some of us here have repeatedly asked "where's the money?" I'm still asking because my info is that they can't raise the money.
June is the target, I took a few pics but hard to capture the magnitude of the project. They have moved 1M cubic feet in 11 weeks with about as much moving still to go. The hardware that is now in place is very impressive as is the progress....
-they already have approval to move the pipes..... -did tavo ask you for any money, or is that just hearsay? -those involved with intimate knowledge of this project, probably signed an NDA so they can't talk about it here (there are some on this board.....)
That's correct, the CPM schedule has only 'milestones', the 'deadline' is when Liquidated Damages start.
What does the FIA inspection involve; is it just the race stuff (i.e. pits and track) or do they inspect all the facilities as well?
They were aware of the pipelines, it was covered in the early presentation by Tavo's attorney..... Possibly the final design let's them stay where they are??? Pipelines run all over Texas....no big deal.
https://www.ci.austin.tx.us/devreview/b_showpublicpermitfolderdetails.jsp?FolderRSN=10503538 Sure the answer is in there somewhere. Don't have the time at the moment to look through the 20-something attached images. and yes, the permit relating to pipe relocation is from October of last year
It's basically what the contracting team is "fined" for not having the building ready for use on time, for a large Hospital, or a micro chip factory it could be "a gazillion dollars a day".... It make the decision of constant forced overtime a relatively simple one.... Finishing a building can get chaotic, as the 'time wasting trades" of drywallers, tile and paint have to get the &*%*(&^ out of the way so we can test and sell to Inspectors the high tech part of the building, the security, HVAC controls and the Fire Alarm. Airborne dust/paint can contaminate and damage the fire detectors, that's usually the biggest challenge.
It's Texas, we're not incumbered by all those silly unions. Forced overtime isn't that expensive...... Friend of mine's parents do commercial electric, and they won't even hire union people

Seems they're only moving two. and also, must possess a time machine because they got the permits in less than your 18 months https://www.ci.austin.tx.us/devreview/b_showpublicpermitfolderdetails.jsp?FolderRSN=10503538 Image Unavailable, Please Login
would using a time machine be some sort of insider trading? Looks to be this pic is taken on the north side of the job site, where the pipe is being relocated, as well as where all of the site utilities are coming in at. pipe is the black thing in the background the white elevated trailer is probably their improbability drive.... https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=115402208543384&set=a.115401605210111.27584.106702412746697&type=1 Image Unavailable, Please Login
Anyone know what is just to the left out of shot in this picture? I'm wondering when that is going to change
