Has anyone put one of these one their car? I am going to replace the previously damaged hood on my 360. Is a carbon hood a viable option?

I would be careful with after-market hoods as the fitment needs to be dead on. They may use a perfect mold of an aluminum 360 hood to create the carbon fibre hood, but once the carbon fibre finishes curing and is completed, it may slightly change in overall dimensions.

Aluminum also tends to be much more malleable than carbon fibre.

And judging by the prices of carbon fibre hoods on eBay, OEM prices are sometimes cheaper (Brand new OEM hoods here in the states are about $2200 - $2300, used ones significantly less but are much harder to come by.)

    Good luck :)

Fitment is always a risk. Even with reputable manufacturers. When I had my M6, I purchased a Vorsteiner GTR bonnet and it arrived with the front being 1 inch shorter than oem, which meant there was a humongous gap that stretched across between the front edge of the bonnet and the top of the front bumper. Did help with cooling though...LOL. Took Vorsteiner 1.5 years to finally sort out the right bonnet and send me a perfect fitting unit. By then the M6 was already gone.

So moral of the story? Carbon aftermarket body panels are never perfect the first time round. And if they are, you are lucky. Always expect poor fitment, that'll help with the disappointment at the later stage.

Oh yes, back to the topic, don't do it. But if you can accept the fitment errors, please at least have the bonnet painted. I'm all for weight saving. My carbon fibre scuderia kit for the 430 weighs almost close to nothing as compared to the oem panels which are now packed and loaded on a pallet. There's no way on earth that I am going to be able to lift the parts myself.

Sounds interesting, who is the manufacturer and what is the fit like? Any pics?

LOL...paint does make a difference, which is why it is important the parts are genuinely made out of carbon instead of the usual FRP with a single layer carbon cloth crap. With the paint added on, the weight is still significantly less than the factory part.
