May 23, 2011 Frank (Ronin) brings his very famous Lotus to us at Specialty Car Craft for painting. This is the fastest, coolest Lotus in the United States. The car sports an in-line shifter, supercharger and turbocharger. Now several versions later, a cool 663 horsepower. Is it fast? Holy Sh*t! I've seen this car in the flesh - not only is it devastatingly fast, the work is grade-A top notch, as well. Gorgeously done.
Thanks! It is so thrilling to be repainting this amazing car and even more thrilling to get to talk to Frank about Lotus cars! At Specialty Car Craft we love Lotus! We have 7 cars in for painting and service right now!
amazing but need way more info and pics of this! is it related to the hennesey car that was on cover r&t and jay leno's webcast?
Holy s***! is such an appropriate response to this car. Wow wow wow. 200 hp in an Elise is fast enough, clearly not for this guy
Nothing to do with the Hennesey car. It is compound charged with a turbo feeding a supercharger into the toyota 2ZZ 1.8l 4. He had paddles on it (still had a clutch) but has removed them and has short shifter mounted near to the wheel which you can see in Larry's photo.
I've seen that car in the flesh a few times over the years. It is a beast... and just keeps getting faster. Insane!!!
Well it depends on what you are used to - to me an Exige/Elise in supercharged package from the factory is plenty fast for me 600+ hp must brake your neck
Why it's a Ferrari Grigio Medio of course... I did a little tunin along with a new staged alcohol fuel injection system to free me from 100 octane gas and allow for decent power for the twisties.... 91 oct. and a blend of alcohol when needed give me a nice 560 whp.= 644 BHP Tuning for 100 octane alone uped the ponies from 577whp to 615 whp.422 ft tq.=707 BHP I really don't care about the claimed BHP since it's a presumed drivetrain loss of 15%, it's the WHP that counts... Frank, I am so proud of you. you have mellowed from the elisetalk days and good to see you still have that mostrosity. I still have my POS Elise and the project track car that has me so p****ed that I have pushed it in the corner for the last few months.
Dude, isn't it a little hot down there for a open track car ? Mellow ? Who me ? It's just that I have proven all the doubters wrong, so now it's all quiet on the western front.. It's so much nicer to not have to deal with the "Lotus is a supercar guys"... Post up your issues on www.Lotussport.org and who knows maybe we can help out. I think I'll keep it until I can't get my old ass out of the seat, gettin in is cake since gravity is my friend....
Frank is a delight to be with and really knowledgeable about cars. Here's three new shots of his amazing Lotus taken at Specialty Car Craft. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login

Thanks, yeah it is a seriously retarded car for the real world and way over powered for sugested legal speeds....But is is fun and reaching light speed only takes a few seconds. The handling is so far better than any car I've owned or been in... But it is a toy and only a mental case like myself would do 200+ miles on a Sunday drive in it..
