A young 22-year-old man crashed a Lamborghini early Sunday morning in Leichhardt, Australia, leaving two with minor injuries. Initial reports put the driver of the early-year Murcielago at fault after he reportedly jumped the median and struck a taxicab head on. The 51-year-old woman driver of the taxi was trapped in her vehicle for over an hour before rescue workers were able to extract her. The driver of the taxi and the 26-year-old passenger of the Lambo were taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Witness told the Sunday Telegraph that "the young driver was showing off" and driving "aggressive.”

Apparently the car wasn't his, and wasn't insured for drivers under 25 years of age...

I bet you it is his "dad's" and the dad could not be pleased! When I lived in Washington, DC, I watched a kid (18) take his father's Porsche 928 for a joy ride and lost control and crashed into a freeway light post on I-66. I stopped to help and this kid was sobbing like a baby and was petrified of what his father was going to do to him... I actually felt a little sorry for him!

26 years old and I feel that 300 hp cars are a handful (sometimes you get that itch to push the car to its limits). I would kill myself in a Murcielago because of the false security in a 4WD with so much grip. Someone remember the teens in their 20's who got killed in a M5 a short while ago?
I'm sure 1 out of 10 would drive around in a 500+ hp car responsibly, but 9 out of them are playing with death traps... Literally...

Back when I was in ninth grade a 16 year old took his dads 928 out without permission and then spun out into a lake. His father made him work part time and took his whole check away for several years I was told.

Now that is good parenting! Wish more would do that! I personally would lean toward keeping my exotic car keys in a gun safe!

I dont understand how somebody loses control of car or run over a bloody median???

I dont have all that much drive experience and Ive driven 400+ HP cars. I dont see how driving that is any different to a 80hp commuter. U just accelerate/daccelerate the same, the more hp the safer the car as u can 'quickly' get out of a tough situation.

So how is 300+ Unsafe... I dont get it. The only thing unsafe about more HP is if the driver is going to go pedal to the metal, spin out cause the tires fry and thus lose control... but thats the stupid driver not the horsepower.

Guys, funny I know, but this did happen in Winter Park Fl besides the silver screen. A coincidence that took place several years from the movie.

The first sports car that I owned was a 928S, I was 16 and a hit in high school, but my father never knew how I drove and if he did he would have sold the car. I was really protected by a higher power. I will not buy my son a powerful sports car, no car is safe in the hands of a teenager but giving them a really fast car is a big mistake.

Lamborghini can be proud they're making a pretty safe car if someone walks away from that. Amazing how many times you see these demolished cars and everybody walks away. I guess that's because the car absorbs the impact by shattering itself before it can impact the driver. Funny, the counter-intuitive thought that used to be; Build the car strong so it would hold up in a crash and protect the driver.

Kids age 18-22 usually don't have a good sense of risk or their own mentality. Scientific studies have shown that part of the brain is not fully developed until the mid-twenties.

There's a reason the military draft age was 18.....

i love the hypocrisy of being able to be drafted and fight and die for your country but not be able to drink a drop of alcohol legally. you are too young to drink but not too young to get whacked...only in America i suppose

I'm pretty sure those in the military under 21 are allowed to drink alcohol, but only on base. However, I heard their superiors tell them they still shouldn't even though they are allowed.

I agree, I think it's stupid you can fight in a war, but not drink when you come back home anywhere you want. The drinking age should be 18, but the penalty for drinking and driving should be very severe. I think they are too light right now.
