Pretty much reiterates what I stated about the supersofts, although I don't see teams going a full tens laps on them. They will see massive drop-off after 6 laps.
Indeed. I *think* it may be alarmingly short - They come off between Rascasse and Anthony Noghes (a 1st gear corner) and re-enter about half way along the start straight - The pit road is pretty short...... I'm still hoping Hembery knows something we don't and a few of 'em at least will do 2 stoppers though. Cheers, Ian
Just wondering: What would happen if the mounted tires were to be (say) baked in their thermal blankets for 24 hours in order to do a few heat cycles and harden up the rubber. Might they go 12-13 laps instead and gain an advantage (one less stop)?
Good question, but I would think the rubber in question is mainly of synthetic content meaning heat cycling is not going to do all that much in terms of durability.
Pirelli has overestimates the durability of every compound released to date by 100% or more... Is it possible these things last only 4 laps? figure 4 stops for the majority of the field,... they may need snow plows to clear the marbles after the race!
I am amazed these tires are doing so well in Monaco. Pirelli must have changed the formula or something.....
