http://www.auto123.com/en/news/car-news/lamborghini-to-develop-an-everyday-car?artid=131625 We've been hearing this since the day's of the Lamborghini Cala concept but it looks like they are more serious about doing a sedan or an SUV, maybe even a bootleg Gallardo with an Audi V8 in it. Could we be seeing a Ferrari FF or California competitor? I Really hope so! They needed something like this for awhile now. But This next generation of Lamborghini is beginning to look like a joke. Whats next? a 1 Ton pickup to compete against the F-150 in sales? I no longer get as excited to see a Lamborghini driving down the street like I used during the days of the Countach, Diablo and early Murcielago. Now they are becoming so common.
I wish they would put the Estoque (sp?) concept car into production. although maybe too late to the party with the QP/Panamera/Rapide/etc. If they do an SUV, it has to be some totally mad vehicle like the LM002. a rebadged Q7 ain't gonna cut it.
According to Jay Leno the Countach makes a great daily driver. Sounds like a great way to dilute the brand.
Dear Lamborghinisti, Ummm...I already have a Lamborghini Daily Driver... ...it's called a Diablo VT Roadster... Shamile Freeze...Miami Vice !
Ok start with the traditional V12 put in 4 real seats, 2 big doors , make it low cool and attractive from all angles, sell more than any other lambo that came before it! And call it the ........Espada! Gary 8394
From what I have heard, Lamborghini's CEO said himself to autocar that he did not like the idea of an SUV vehicle in the Lamborghini line up since it doesn't belong in the Lamborghini price segment and an SUV isn't a proper luxury car. But, a new entry level "everyday" car is inevitable.
I think what they mean by a daily driver is something that can be driven to like Walmart, when the kids come over on the weekends you can't fit them into your Countach on the way to McDonalds or what about if you want to go out for a night in the town with your friends, a Diablo roadster won't cut it. Sure it's got AWD but would you want to take it out during snow? I wouldn't. But I agree it's a great way to dilute the brand. Stefan Winklerman should be the next star of the MTV Show Jack@$$ with Jonny Knocksville and not the chair man of Lamborghini. The Aventador was a huge disappointment and so is this announcement and I'm willing to hold a bet right now that it's going to be a rebadged or rebodied Audi.
From what I've gathered over the years, the Gallardo isn't very far off from being a daily driver, if you really wanted to. As far as the Estoque, I read that it has merely been shelved & may see production later on. I would love to see it come out before Lamborghini's design cues evolve beyond the Reventon-esque designs.
I really hope Lambo dont start producing california type cars....it will totally move away from the entire point. I would love to see an extreme 4 seater....or a radical GT car rather than a compromise in the middle. Lambo must always be extreme, agressive and uncompromised. The estoque will need to have massive power to totally differentiate it from a panamera or an AMG car. If they do a GT car, it will have to be very extreme and not compete with an FF....as it should have more Lambo flair than practiality genes. Hope they astonish us the same way as they did with the Aventador! MJ
This has got to be rumors only. I cannot imagine a 4 cyls or 6 cyls Lambo to go to the soccer game. This will destroy not only the bransd but the values of the current cars. The Murcie, Adventador etc will just be to lambo what the corvettte is to Chevrolet: a high hig model of a popular brand.
At the rate this company is going soon Lamborghini may very well end up turning out to be like General Motors. I don't like this new direction one bit, I'm waiting for Lamborghini to announce the F-150, Ram and Silverado's competition next with a one ton sporting an Audi V8 In a way they have always needed an "Affordable" entry level model, something for less than 150k since I can remember, it will be a great way to put an end the kitcar/replicar market and give people with a 911, califorina budget the third option of owning a Lambo. They do not need a luxry sedan, they just need to bring back the Espada which is more of a Muscle car than it is sedan. Then bring back a modern day either a Jarama or Urranco. Sell it for roughly 130k below the Gallardo's replacement and ill be more excepting towards seeing it. But I honestly don't see them doing just that but instead I'm under the impression we will be seeing a family wagon and an SUV.
Its more than likely going to happen. Their Audi SUV and Audi sedans could easily be rebadged and sold for a higher markup just because it's got a Lamborghini badge. This new Lamborghini age it's like Metallica doing songs for Justin Bieber!
Dear Lamborghinisti, Umm....my VT Roadster goes to Walmart. I have enough room for the groceries. Kids?? what are kids and snow... Friend(s)....how about Friend...one tall, thin blonde (18-23) I live in Florida and my beater economy box is my Ferrari... Oh...I rack up miles on both of them...big time. Shamile Freeze...Miami Vice !
You quoted me wrong but hats O.K. Besides you , me and Roy , us three that actually use our Lamborghinis for daily use , i know from reading these forums for a few years now, that most people do not use their cars for daily driveing, too bad they don`t know what they are missing, i would say the only drawback is the height of the roofline , its hard for most drivers to see in say a parking lot , so you do have to use Extra caution .
So, there is no truth in this, then?? http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/2010/11/lamborghini-lm00x-suv-to-share-audi-q5-platform.html
