vdvgrant.be - Brussels has had a car like that one for sale for awhile...what kinda money do they bring? Just a stunning beast of a race car!
Since Peter's name came up, here is a shot of me with him and my car at the end of Jan. I was off to the big swap meet that weekend, hence the work clothes. Yes, I could drive the car just fine with them big Fred Munster shoes on too! (I drive with my cowboy boots just fine too!) Spoke a tad with him about the 5000 and the P70. The back top body works (fixed wing) was still sitting on a pallet in the DeT warehouse in 97 when I visited, and was seen by others since then....not sure now! He and his wife were down here doing some sales shmoozing at a local Mustang shop with his new Cobra Daytona Coupe. Nice car!!! I'd have one....but only if the steering wheel is relocated to be different from a regular Cobra....steering is kinda like hitting your self in the tops of the legs over and over again.... As for the black car above, it sure looks shiny....but where did they put the AC and the alternator??? Would have loved to see more under hood shots of that car! For 189E that car better be perfect in all ways...with all the stock parts.....IMHO. There are still plenty of cars around in VGC if you look for them....at much nicer prices.... Ciao! Steve PS: Please remove all of that glued on filth that Ghia called insulation, from your door skins and inner rear fender walls (adjacent gas tank!) whenever you are in there......all it does is retain water like a fat.... nevermind....(and cause problems later)! Looks like my car a while back! ...wait....it STILL looks like my car now!!!! Up on blocks...waiting on the new oil pan.....and waiting.....and waiting..... If it doesn't come in this week, it's gonna be "off the blocks" and going for a drive this week to weekend!!!! Steve
Awesome pic!!! As big a DeTomaso fan as I am I'd have to give the Miura the win. Miura's have got to be one of the sexiest cars ever produced.
hmmmmm. Miura wins from the rear, tie from the side, and Goose wins from the front by a little. So close call........2 of the most beautiful cars ever made. Put the Dino and the Ghibli in there and you have the 5 most beautiful cars ever designed, all done in the same couple of years, ~`67-`68. Those were awesome years in exotic car design.
Denis, you gotta give us more of this one...what a bada$$ GOOSE! what is the story on it, MOAR photos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you are an admirer of the Mangusta then you'll know its predecessor was the Sport 5000, built on a spine chassis that DeTomaso had shown at Turin in 1966, it was then clothed by a body designed by Pete Brock, to compete in FIA Group9; registered , but never competed. It later gave its chassis to a Giugiaro body design meant for ISO but never accepted, but I digress. Came across a picture today and it would seem to me Lorenzo Ramaciotti may have borrowed a few of that Pete Brock/Sport5000 lines for his F50. You be the judge. Image Unavailable, Please Login
