    At face value? ;)

I really was speechless at Pete's assertion that "Lewis cost Ron his job". I confess I then LOL'd at your response. ;)

Ron *is* Mclaren - Nobody (even when Merc was involved) could "fire" Ron......

Not even Lewis! [The anti-christ?] could be accused of that. ;)

    Cheers,

His stated reasons for leaving are sufficiently credible for me to give a man of his accomplishments the benefit of the doubt.

Agree, but I would not play that game at the begining of the season like Ferrari did (although in their case I don't blame them, ie. 21 years without one).

I'd definitely play it as "my team, my rules".

As for Ron, I concede that my reasons for him stepping aside could be wrong. I still don't like what Lewis did though.

October 2001 to May 2002 is not 21 years. Schumacher had already won the title in 2000 and 2001 before the infamous 2002 team orders incident happened.

I don't even see that statement as cocky; I see it as confidence. Any pro athelete has confidence. That's part of what gets them there. It blows my mind that someone can knock LH for believing in himself. Oh my god, LH believes in himself, that BASTARD!!!!

Hahaha.. As for all the rhetoric dragged up in this thread, how can anyone make a clear judgement of what went down considering Bernies show fixing side kick cretin Mosley was running the show is beyond me.

What a laugh ! What about the guy behind the wheel Lew ? He's not bad either ! Lew thinks he's the only driver who can bring his car forward, he just might be seeing RED at Monaco, and I don't mean RedBull either.

This article is full of Lew-Ham babble, like

"I think I showed at the last race that I had the fastest race pace throughout the whole race". (last week)

Hopefully Alonso will smoke this guy, if not then the drink company will ruin his day. Hey Lew, nobody cares if you think you're fastest, it's P1 that matters, not first loser.

According to Pit Pass today Lewis is convinced that Toro Rosso is out to stymie him and protect Seb.

I agree, he should have played by the rules and done what he was told. I don't think he did anything that any other top shelf drivers have done. Vettel laid the wood to Webber because he wanted to win. Alonso ignored his team orders to switch to fuel saving mode so that he would be able to pass Massa. And he totally shafted him on the pit entry road. I think both of those things are at least as bad was what Lewis did, and none of them are anything that should be massively shocking to an F1 fan, and I think all of them are less bad than what Alonso did in response - sat in the pit box to stiff Hamilton out of a run, and earned a grid place penalty which cost him the WDC and lost McLaren all their WCC points for the race.

I agree, but I imagine much worse things have been said over the radio. Should Webber have told his team publicly "not bad for a #2 driver"? I'd say that's equally disrespectful to a team that gave him all that they did. I am pretty sure you won't agree :). And let's not forget Alonso actually publicly accused his own team of sabotaging his car and WDC changes in '06 on national TV. Surely that is at least as bad too.

Or are these only things that Hamilton shouldn't do? :)

Nonsense. He had nothing to do with Rob Dennis' job (which was Ron's choice but if there was any influential factors, would be the FIA debacle which happened when *Alonso* tried to blackmail the team into giving him preferential treatment, and Ron said no, and called Max to disclose the rest. As for the '07 WDC... how did Hamilton lose it? Alonso broke the rules simply to screw Lewis, and he got a grid penalty for that, which caused him to finish a few places further down than he would have, which cost him the WDC. Much more direct than the path you would have to take to suggest Lewis caused it - unless your argument is that a rookie who was faster than his teammate shouldn't have challenged someone he is faster than, which is silly.

Very telling that you would pull Lewis out of the car to "show him who is boss" for being angry at Alonso for intentionally stiffing his WDC chances.

Yet you would not do the same or worse for Alonso, who directly cost them the WDC by earning a grid penalty that cost enough WDC points to let him win, AND who tried to blackmail the team.

You're totally biased on this one Pete. You are fabricating scenarios where Lewis should have been punished, yet give Alonso a pass for much worse transgressions.

Knowing the aussie sense of humour, I'd say it was said as a joke and tongue in cheek and not in a disrespectful way. That's certainly how I took it when he said it.

    Mike,

I pretty much agree with your last post and comments but you have the order of events wrong. Lewis started the drama at McLaren NOT Alonso. Lewis would not let Alonso passed for a clear track during a qualifying session and the rest is history.

Thus you are ignoring this event. If Lewis had been the team player and done what he was told, Alonso would have no grounds to be pissed and he would not have understandably (in my opinion as a 2xWDC, hired as the experienced driver) got upset with his treatment in the team.

I will find out which race to help you remember where the drama started ... found it:
    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/2318334/Hamilton-gifted-pole-as-Alonso-docked-places.html

The relevant comment that started the falling out:
Alonso responded by parking his car in the pits to block Lewis ... not mature but you honestly can't blame him.

So in my view and in Ron Dennis's view Lewis started it, not Alonso. Thus Lewis cost McLaren the WDC ...

Me, Me, Me, Me....etc. Lew is a broken record. According to Lew, it's all about "ME"

Without a doubt one of his most arragant comments, he states that he is the only one who can beat the drink company ! Go swivel Hanboi,

"At the moment the only person who has an answer to Sebastian is me, and in a car that is not as good as his, and I'm quite happy with that,"

You're abit obsessed with Lewis aren't you? Personally I'm a McLaren fan and not a Ferrari fan but I was happy to see Alonso in the lead last weekend. Are you ever happy for someone else when it has no benefit for yourself?
You're just filled with hate for someone you've never met or will ever run into. Why are you so wrapped up in Lewis?

Thirteendog - Dunno how much of this nausea you've waded thru, but many have tried to "educate", "open his (her?) eyes" and even tried to understand the hatred, vitriol and general nastiness he spouts. *ALL* have failed and most now use the "ignore" button - If "we" don't feed the troll he will eventually get bored and go away.......

In today's Star paper, Lewis claimed he's the 'chosen one' to beat the Bulls and Vettel. I really think he didn't learn much over the years...

I agree. He beat him once, and was close again last weekend. Lets hope Fred does something about Vettel's dominance this weekend.

Btw, Steve, you heading to Wembley later today? :D
