Well, this thread is about Lew-ham, but I wouldn't call it an obsession. (others will disagree I'm sure) My condolences on your team affiliation, You'll fit in around here being a macca fan. I enjoy F1, and of course would like to see Ferrari doing better but that aside, I've enjoyed Vettle's wins. I wouldn't mind seeing Webber or Button win a few, and if Hamboi wins here and there it doesn't bother me a bit. Jumping to conclusions there aren't you ? I've attended races over the years and have indeed "run into" the Hamster, also, Hate is a strong word, he is my least favorite driver though. Again, the thread is about him, and his petulant arrogant comments, pure entertainment as far as I'm concerned.
Lew-ham has said he fancies himself a modern day Senna, sorry pal, Ayrton wouldn't have blown that chicane ! Button made the best of it, suck it up punk. LOve the fact that he was put 9th on the Q3 qually order !!!! http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/formula_one/13585309.stm
True. But real pity that he is again blaming his team, or at least criticizing it. Don't remember Senna doing that, but he might have ?? But nobody is going catch Vettel this year. If is car does not fail, I honestly can see for the first time one driver winning every race. I watched the Monaco qualifying and nobody was as comfortable in their car as Vettel. The man is so confident it is amazing, 4 wheel drifting at Monaco!!!. This confidence is what is beating Webber. An area where Webber has always struggled except for about 5 races last year. Pete
I'm a bit surprised to see LH having a go at his team about this. Wouldn't he have any input? Surely if he thought it was a bad idea he would have voiced his opinion or told them to 'go swivel'. I'd love to be a fly on the wall and hear what REALLY goes on behind the scenes. I still think there are many similarities between F1 and WWE....although one difference being that WWE is real, of course.
Well, I said in post 254 that Lewis didn't let Alonso by and Alonso responded by holding him up in the pits... but I just don't agree that Alonso's reaction was justified or equal in proportion to what Hamilton did. It would be the equivalent of Webber purposely running Vettel off the track after Vettel was given the replacement wing. The handing of the wing to Vettel was an internal team matter but if Webber then purposely crashed him out, that would very much be an FIA matter. Same with Alonso/Hamilton. Hamilton not moving over was an internal team matter but Alonso's response was very much an FIA matter. It was entirely Alonso's decision to react in the manner he did, and there is absolutely nobody to blame but himself for getting the resulting penalty. To suggest otherwise would be to say it would be Alonso's fault if Massa came into the pits and crashed into the back of him when Alonso pipped Massa going into the pits. It's outrageous to suggest that would be an appropriate reaction and that Alonso would have been responsible. These guys are all supposed to be professionals... that doesn't always end up being the case, but where lines are crossed and penalties are handed out, there is no room for "but I only did it because he did something to me first'. That line of defense ceases to be valid after kindergarten. Although Alonso does have the crybaby attitude of a kindergartener, so perhaps it is to be expected when his actions mimic his whining
I read an article today (that I can't seem to find now) written by one of the journalists who goes to the races and interacts with the teams and drivers. He was commenting on the complaints about Lewis comments in interviews. In a nutshell, he said Lewis is one of the most open drivers and is more accessible and willing to comment than most others, and he also says exactly what he thinks without as much of a PR-filter as others. The journalists therefore have a larger dataset from which to compose articles from, so they cherry pick a comment and slap on a sensationalist title like "Hamilton says only he can challenge Vettel", paste in some quotes to support that and throw it out into the ether where legions of haters gobble it up and reinforce their bias against the guy I just read the article on BBC UK that P1 posted. The title is "Hamilton criticized his teams choice of strategy for a disappointing qualifying result". You would expect a quote something like "you know, I am not happy about this... I had the pace to be on pole and the team let me down. I will do what I can but there is no way we can win" or something, right? To me this seems like a clear case of a journalist slapping a sensationalist headline on the piece for those who don't read past the first paragraph. I don't see anywhere in his comments that he blamed the team. He was just factual about what went down. But that doesn't make for good rag copy, so the journalist took some creative liberties to add something that wasn't there.
Or, the version before LH cooled off: "You have to get out and get in a banker, like everyone else did. With racing experience you'd assume that most people would have that, but I guess other things were going on and we didn't have that. It's my worst Q3 for a long time." "I won't give up, but there's no chance to win realistically. Sebastian [Vettel] will walk away with it, but that's racing." Not real bad criticism of the team but a little less "PR friendly" than his later interview. http://planetf1.com/driver/18227/6957292/Hamilton-Wrong-strategy-to-blame
How long can you continue to defend this friggin idiot ? Alonso has behaved like a professional while your hero acts like a complete moron. He actually said the stewards could be racist's ! Today we saw without a doubt Hambone at his best !!! Let's see you defend his statements after the race in this article, http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/29052011/58/hamilton-slates-joke-stewarding.html
Do you have proof that the stewards are not in fact racists? You act like the notion is preposterous.
prove the absence of racism? you must be joking, right? The burden of proof is on the accuser, in these situations. Hamilton is a spoiled brat with delusions of grandeur and entitlement, delusions which far exceed his skill (which is, in fact, substantial). He's a total ******nozzle ... and it becomes more & more obvious with each passing race. (uh oh ... i wrote "race" ... maybe i'm a racist too?)
I am not joking. Professional scientific study after study proves racism beyond a shadow of a doubt in everything from language to body language. Then you continue on here with a bunch of personal insults to Hamilton. I don't think he has delusions of grandeur. I think he had a weekend in which he knew he had a car that could sit on pole and due to a crash did not and the whole affair went downhill from there. Calling him a ***nozzle and whatever other insults you have is neither here nor there. And yes, it is my opinion that you, as with just about every other human on the planet, including me, is far more racist than you think you are. I say again, it's silly to act as if the notion is beyond the realm of possibility.
well then, following your line of reasoning, we must conclude that it's equally likely that Hamilton is racist, and in fact it's Hamilton's deep racism that drives his actions and comments. Hamilton's comments against his team, his competitors and the stewards are nothing more than manifestations of HIS severe racism. If you can't PROVE me wrong ... it must be true. Right?
and your commentary is NOT that from an armchair expert, because .... ??? we are ALL commentating from the sidelines, unless we've raced Formula One ... no? Hamilton is currently a distant second in the WDC. And that changes exactly nothing that i've written. Now please remind ME, which Formula One races you've raced, so that your posts are taken more seriously than an "arm chair expert", like me
You can't prove a negative, and I don't think there is *any* evidence that the stewards are racist. However, this was not an actual complaint by Lewis, it was said half heartedly and tongue in cheek, unless folks think "that's what Ali G says, right?" was part of an honest accusation of racism. Lewis was just whining and shouldn't have said it in the first place - the only racism that we've seen in F1 was from the disgusting Spanish fans who thought it was funny to dress in blackface.
I totally agree what he said was some kind of a joke. But, it was a bad joke at a bad time. And, sometimes in jokes, you find a hidden truth in the psyche of the joke teller.
Facts are facts. However yet again this thread has the honour of being a race spoiler, therefore I do not wish to continue this line of debate.
