nor do i. I came into this thread, not just because Hamilton reached a new low in trying to play the race card against the stewards (even if only half in jest), but because someone actually tried to justify (or at least give credence to) Hamilton's latest complaint It's just pathetic. i'm done.
Lew-hambone was the race spoiler today, his actions on the track were worthy of being black flagged. How many penalties did he receive at Monaco ? I lost track, and they might issue more.
Thats better than the drivers he ran into during the race. The fact that they let him collect any points is a crime, causing 2 accidents during the race. Hamboi is rapidly alienating himself from every other driver on the grid. I know how much you love Massa, here's what he had to say after getting crashed out by wonderboi, -------------------- "He tried to pass me on the kerbs [when] I didn't think it was possible to overtake," said Massa. "He was too aggressive, I think. "Then when I got to the tunnel my car was damaged and I went on the dirty part of the track and hit the wall. What he did today was unbelievable. Not just with me, but with other drivers as well. When asked by AUTOSPORT whether further sanctions were needed in a bid to calm Hamilton's driving, Massa said: "Yes. I think he needs to be penalised again, and in a good way otherwise he doesn't learn. "They [the FIA] need to think about something for him, or he will not learn." When asked whether he thought Hamilton was the most problematic driver to race against in Formula 1, Massa replied: "Maybe he is the one spending the most [time] with the FIA [stewards]. I don't know." http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/91860
Why would anyone be banned, just for voicing their opinion about a driver, and nothing about any other participant here on FChat? Isn't this a forum? Watched the replay, Hamilton is pushing the line between safe and reckless driving too far. But that is not for someone watching the race on one dimensional TV to determine. The corner workers confirmed to Whiting what really happened, along with video replays. Hamilton deserved his penalties. We all just watch this on TV, no way to really know 100% unless we were at those specific locations on the track of these incidents. When LH started in F1, all I read coming from the F1 community was praise of how the racial barrier was broken in F1. Virtually all of the press put him on a pedestal. So for Hamilton to now make accusations of racism is a bit silly. If anything, I would see the race officials backing off of Hamilton to avoid accusations of racism. And apparently, he really took the pedestal thing too far. No doubt he is an excellent driver. But over the years, you have to be blind not to see when he gets frustrated he gets reckless. He will hurt someone some day if he is not controlled. But the race in Monaco, and the Indy 500, were both great to watch.
Yet again you miss the point give me strength... Read it : http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=11931
Krafty, maybe you should read it, the "subject line" isn't being affected here. I'm amazed at the level of whining about this. We all watched the race, lighten up man.
Ok man, I give up carry on, personally I always watch it live, or news black out. Thinking of others thats all... forget it...
I missed nothing. I got the point 100%. I did not affect the subject line to which you so "accidently" made reference. Some people are comfortable with denial, I am not. I have no explanation for your issues. You have a ridiculous reaction to anyone that does not agree with you, or anyone that has anything bad to say about Hamilton. Most of the time, you are wrong. I have no explanation for LH being such an idiot off track, when he has such potential major talent on track. If he just stopped being reckless. And put a sock in his mouth. He very likely could become the best. But today, Hamilton really screwed up. Same for you. No problem if you do not agree with me, your perogative, but you should lose the BS getting personal with me, or anyone else for that matter, just because they do not agree with you. When you need to get personal it just demonstrates your lack of credibility, means you have nothing of substance to say. If you can not support your position with fact, then you have no position. Thanks.
So using some of the theories mentioned earlier on here, it is possible that he said it in anger (not joking) realized it and covered up immediately by making a joke out of it? His exact words "Massa blocks me in practice and I get penalized?" were not said only half in jest, but were definitely a joke. Calling the other drivers stupid was not very funny either. I think that the fact that DC and EJ on BBC (both definitely PRO Hamilton/McLaren) were appalled by the garbage he spewed is enough proof of how moronic his comments were. And about the thread, I don't see any problem with it. That is, with the precedents in the forum. If you have a ">any Ferrari driver< sucks" thread on a Ferrari forum, I don't see how there could be anything wrong with a thread bashing any driver racing against Ferrari on a Ferrari forum. And before some people jump on about what this place is about (F1), lets not forget that this is FERRARIchat with a little section about F1 and not an F1 forum with some Ferrari content. I mean this has puzzled me ever since I discovered Ferrarichat for the first time. Why in hell would a Macca fan go to a Ferrari forum and then complain that someone has their red glasses on? I mean what did you expect in a place called FERRARIchat? Oh, WOW, they have burgers at BurgerKing! I came for the fish salad and spaghetti. I am a Ferrari fan and that is why I don't go to a McLaren or Mercedes forums. I understand that many people on here have a Ferrari sharing the garage with a Benz or something else, so that is why they come to the forum, but they are not fans of the Scuderia. Fine, but stop complaining about anti Macca or anti Hambone comments. It is totally normal this to be a Ferrari biased forum. It should be. That is why it is called FERRARIchat.
That's what forums are for: a platform for lively and (occasionally respectful) arguments. What fun would it be if everyone had the same vanilla (oops, I mean red) opinion? On another note, I find some of the sanctimonious posts on this thread highly amusing. Surely the same people were up in arms after Alonso gave the finger to Petrov in the Abu Dhabi 2010 GP? These racers are athletes. They're not saints or moral role models to be upheld as paragons of society. What does it matter what they do afterwards, or what they say after a loss?
My point was that I am not surprised by WHAT goes on on here, but that some people ARE and complain about it. I am all about variety and having an open dialog with all sorts of opinions expressed, but sometimes I feel almost like bashing Ferrari and their drivers is OK, but other teams/drivers is not. What I am saying is that IF there is any bias on here, it should not surprise anyone if it is towards Ferrari, as it should be expected on a forum gathering fans of the prancing horse.
He's not in denial about anything - the comment was absurd. Even the man who made the comments himself has said it was a joke. To take a joke, that he has apologized for and said was only a joke, and suggest that it could as easily be true, and then saying that this line of thought isn't unreasonable because it can't be proven false, is absurd. Period.
Perhaps there isn't. I'm merely pointing out the possibility. Has anyone done any kind of indepth study? My guess is no. Also, racism comes in many forms. It's not just some clowns in the stands wearing monkey suits or burning a cross on a front yard. Many of us take comfort that as long as we're not engaging in those extreme activities then we must NOT be racist. I'm merely making a point because I find it incredible (and sad) that so many people who are not of a persons race or gender, will deny that persons (negative) experience just because it may require them to confront some potentially unpleasant or awful thruths about themselves.
Mostly on the board I've agreed with you but on this one, due to personal experience, I disagree. Period.
werewolf, The unwavering support for Lewis on this site is quite amazing. Webber, as I'm an Australian citizen has my support, but never unwavering. I personally have always had an issue with the concept of somebody schooling a child into a F1 driver, and thus admit that I'm probably a little biased against him. My father thinks he's great though, but his team is McLaren, while my team is Ferrari then McLaren. I believe we are seeing the effects of this schooling now with his on track methods. Pete
Yes it's like when one is drunk they often say what they really would like to say. A joke can be a way of saying something that you would not otherwise get away with. Pete
I didn't mean to sound too arrogant on my previous post, but IMO it's not even a matter of debate. You cannot prove a negative. So to say "can you prove they aren't racist?" the answer is no. But since a negative can never be proven, to suggest that it must be proven to defeat a point in an argument is faulty logic. There is zero evidence to suggest the stewards are racist. They are different for each race. Hamilton was joking in his comments. Therefore, there is not a racial component to the frequency of penalties he's suffered this year. Chalking it up to racism or even suggesting it could be is the easy way out. Could it be the stewards are nationalistic bigots who don't like Englishmen? Could be... but not worth going there on zero evidence either. IMO.
