    HI Fchat ppl

My friend's modena has been involved in crash and has problem in insurance issue.
The insurance company asked about the material of Ferrari 360 Genuine front bumper, front fenders, and front trunk hood.
If anyone knows about the material of the body (I know it's FRP body), I would need to know specific material of body and what kind of alloy Ferrari uses for 360

    thx

Its not a FRP body, its aluminum for the most part ;)

    The Genuine 360 Modena parts use;

    Aluminum:
    1. Alcoa Aluminum Space frame (chassis)
    2. Front Wings
    3. Rear Wings
    4. Front Bonnet / Hood
    5. Engine Bonnet
    6. Roof
    7. Doors
    8. Crash Structures (front radiator cages, etc)

The vast majority of the 360 / 430 is Aluminum, not FRP.

    Fiberglass
    1. Front Bumper / Fender
    2. Rear Bumper / Fender
    3. Side Skirts
    4. Rear grille (if color coded or Steel if its fitted with a Modena challenge grille)

In essence its only the bumpers and skirts are made of FRP.
On later models such as the CS, the rear grille became Aluminum too (for weight saving) vs Steel and the FRP technology for the bumpers went to lighter weight RTM technology FRP.

The vast majority of cars only therefore have FRP for the bumpers and skirts. Everything else is Aluminum!

Sounds like the insurance assessor is totally incompetent.

This is one of the reasons there is a "see through" glass showing the engine. Many Insurance Assessor's and Cop's have walked up and touched the front hood and said.."Boy the engines isn't even hot!!" Real Sharpies........

I always thought it was GRP (Glass Reinforced Plastic) but I'm assuming FRP is Fibre Reinforced Plastic (hence "Fibre Glass").
