Yes, it is coming... eventually. Here's a preview of things to come. Hint: touch touch touch oh so good feeling. Sounds like it is built for browsing. Wonder where I'm going to do my development that doesn't require thumb swapping. Oh look, they built an iPad! [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wo4anqp39z4[/ame] Is this a joke? As usual, expect a very complex upgrade plan with varying prices between basic, not so basic, less than basic but still doesn't do anything, a pro version, a business version, an a why-the-f-not-ultimate version /sarcasm off.
watch out for more malicious software! integrating Java is a little dangerous... unless Micro$haft completely alters the file system. I do like some of what they have going on; and would definitely have this OS on my new laptop once it's available... on a secondary drive I'd swap out
Tough to say how this new interface will catch on... I still never seen a Windows Phone 7 "in the wild". In the meantime, I bought an iMac and I love it. (and I was one of those people that used to say Apple was stupid)
I've only played with one Windows phone in the wild. Was at a bar ordering drinks and the guy next to me had one. Messed with it for a few minutes. Interesting interface. Some features I dig about it, but also wonder how quickly it would feel dated. The UI is overall very nice, but strong enough to put a dent in the Andriod/IOS market... that's difficult to tell. In prior advertisements, they outsourced their promo videos, which were all done on macs. =)
It's funny that you walked into a bar and found the one person on the planet that's using a windows phone. Windows tablet...I suck at predicting the future, but they've been trying to pinch one out forever and still don't have anything decent, yet Apple is on their second gen. OEM's are already whining about hardware restrictions Redmond are putting on the upcoming tablets so I don't have my hopes up. They could very well end up with a giant Zune HD with...8 apps total. Haha. MS should stick to OSes, keyboards, mice and office suites. Nearly everything else they do costs them billions and billions and billions (on and on) of dollars in failed attempts.
I used a Windows phone for 3 days. Was mostly interested in it for the cloud services for office. I couldn't take it, just awful. Went back to iPhone for a while then jumped ship to Android permanently. The cloud service didn't do what it should, couldn't access all the files. The home screen is horrible which you can't seem to change. I'm not a social networking type, and could care less about my friends tweets. Also the font is huge! Nothing seems to fit on the screen. I think they have a good base for something good but they missed the mark big time.
