Thanks Jon. Tony from Foskers emailed me last year with 2 for sale at 100k. Thought about it but really, the 512 is truly not practical in our climate. The radiator piping runs from the front to the back right under the cabin. As one US F-chatter said, it slowly roasts you in summer, let alone in our climate. And then paying about 1/2mil for a car that you can use only 28 days a year when I already don't run the 355 that much thanks to my little brats running around? Doesn't make sense, more so when you factor componding and time value of $$$. Maybe when I'm older with more time and spare $$$ lying idle then it could make some sense to get it or the Countach. But the 512 is truly a beautiful car. Just like the 288, a more macho, muscular car with the curvy lines of the 308 which is a bit too petite. Love those indicator lights with flip ups mid way up the bonnet. And the clamshells... I could go on and on!
Hey 100K is more decent & I'm looking @ keeping it in UK. It just doesn't make sense to pay all the taxes for a miserable 28days here. And I'll most likely sell it for a profit in few years time over there anyway. My bet is this model will the next one with just few hundred RHDs made. Would you mind sharing which are those two? Thanks. 288GTO are fetching between 300-500K pounds!
I just sent Tony an email and will update you. The 365BB is the rarest followed by the 512 and then the 512BBi. I believe just about 300+ 365BBs were built whereas the 512BBi was 1007, I think. Yep, these cars will always be worth something and what a shame re: our import taxes for these oldies. Besides, if you bring it in I don't think IA's mechanics will know how to do this car which I cannot blame them as they are younger than the car! Even my dad has never worked on this but he has on the 330 which was even older . The US would be a good place to keep these cars if the distance was not so far from us.
Would be great to own one. the 512BB has got to be one of the most beautiful Ferrari's ever made.... it was my first matchbox ferrari, and was followed by a bigger Tomy version... I loved it that much...
OK, found three @ my budget. Two in UK, both red. One 365BBGT4 & another a 512BB. Both carbs but wonder which is better investment & drive. Was told that the gearbox is stronger in the 512 but Hp rating is actually higher in the 365 due to emissions control. Which would u get? Also found a silver/black 512BBi, Swiss registered & LHD. Am told that is the best for drive & being mechanical injection, it is very reliable & easy to start in cold. A few others, some all black again & rebuilt but 50% more on the price Shall we share one? Car pool system, since we don't get to drive it till we're there. I found one in Melbourne but that shop wants BIG money for it. I realised that the red/black Boxer (not Testarossa) was my bedroom poster in the 80s, it has to be Athena!
Bro, we should talk more this Sunday. Bring laptop and pictures of your MM and get your co-pilot to come along to share his esp of the babes . Harold, is it the usual place and time? MP, long time no see so is Sunday a yes or no?
