That truly is quite some collection of Ghiblis; is there an Indy joining in the good company as well?

    cheers,

Yes, there was also an Indy 4900, the last serie with the 15'' wheels and the Citroen brake system.

Your are an endless resource of wisdom! So 1486 stayed in your oppinion twenty years unused? Looks like; may need some $$$ to get it back in working shape...

    Dec. 10., 1989 auctioned by C. Boisgirard –Vincennes/F
    Later located in Rome
May 2011 with SPEED MOTORS Srl. –Martellago/I, offered for sale, asking 67,800 Euro

    Hi Walter:

I'll check with Al. He actually has (2). Both are 1972's and both are "SS" models. One is white (automatic gearbox) and the other is this "nutmeg" color (for lack of a better term) with 5 speed manual gearbox.

Here is a much better picture of it, taking 2nd place for "Classic" Maserati at our 2009 Italian Concours:

Just saw - the ex Sammy Davis Junior Ghibli again (I think to remember it was auctioned last summer in the states..) sold at Bonhams yesterday for 78,600USD - AM 115578. @Walter - was it really first delivery to Sammy Davis? Why is it going around in such a short time..?

Yep, 1st owner of #115.578 was Sammy Davis Jr.
    Its an automatic-version.

No idea why it changed hands so soon. Perhaps the famous name made a nice profit......

Don't think so - rememebr the last auction price was similar... Anyway, maybe the auto box was too much for the intermediate owner...

Any Ghiblis up for auctions in the next months?

I think that maybe a 25 to 30k loss. This car sold at Monterey within the last 2 years for about 105k.

These Ghibli prices are really unpredictable. Understood the yellow Sammy Davis Ghibli was in good condition.

The Artcurial car seems a bit neglected, even thiough comes from a large French collection. Anyone knows more about this car?

    Hello Mike,

Any chance of getting the info on that paint code? I'm getting ready to repaint mine and that looks fantastic. I'm told my original color was Brown but I'm not sure which Brown that might be. Does anybody here have contact info to get the actual build sheet?

    Thanks,
    Chris

Well, in the last 3-4 years I saw too many cars in poor condition in France! Not many Maseratis in France seem to be in good condition or are pampered! The Ghibli ARTCURIAL had on offer in February for their sale at Retromobile was excellently presented in their catalogue. The car looked stunning on this photos but was a dissapointment in reality.

    Ciao!

Indeed a fantastic example, up to the Cheney hose clamps and Magneti Marelli battery. It even still has the air pump on!
Car was originally supplied in Oro Lonchamps, yet, color is a matter of taste.
I received the photos from the owner some years back. Great car!

    Amici della Ghibli,

    I went to the Spa Italia meeting at Francorchamps last weekend "en Ghibli";
Although generally a lack of classic Maserati's (as well as l'altra Marqua:) ). there were 3 Ghibli's and some nice 3500's present .
They gun metal grey car was restored in the Netherlands some 6 years ago, an early example, not in the original color scheme but looks great, very well done! The color scheme surely underlines the Ghibli's Gran Turissimo image.
Mind the details: Ignition has been modified to a contemporary Bosch / Mercedes V8 unit.
The yellow car, in Dutch ownership, has just been resprayed. What does that Khamsin steering wheel do in there? Funny front top edge detailing, changes the appearance of the nose a bit to the Indy design.
My light blue hot dessert wind did very well. She cruises marvelous at 140-160kmh! The view from the top leads me to think that Citroën had a good look at this when they started the SM design?!?
Tech tip: Changed the plugs to NGK BPR 6 EIX with laser blasted tips, runs very well and rev pick up improved considerable. Also no plug fouling and misfiring even after 1 hour in a hot traffic jam and load of rain!
Another great day and ~400km trip.
    Ciao,

    Bart
