Would be interested to see more pictures of this car, my guess would be 23kg for the body

Doors + front section + mid section + rear section + engine cover, painted with grills fitted and "bumpers" = 42Kg (92 pounds).

    That's fantastic!
Any idea what the OEM parts weigh?

    Do you have molds?
If so, any idea on price for a set of body parts?

    Hi,

Yes we have molds, you can carry the complete rear section easily, even hold it with one arm...
I need to verify the pricing but this needs patience, takes time to make and is difficult to ship/transport.

That looks like a serious Michelotto-type Gr.IV (or GrB?) car you are building there!!
    Fantastic!!

    WOW! very very impressive

I have some experience regarding what some of these parts weigh. All weights are painted weights

    Steel deck lid:55lbs............Fiberglass 44lbs
    Steel front clip:38lbs..........Fiberglass 32lbs
    Steel rear clip:40lbs..........Fiberglass 33lbs

Those are the only parts I have actual weights on. The doors without any glass etc (bare) probably weigh about 29lbs each in steel and 23lbs each in fiberglass. Roof panel is not very big, so say 17lbs in steel and 14-15lbs in glass. So it sounds like the above body parts shaved at least 100lbs off of any Euro steel/glass car. The 288GTO managed to do this with body parts so it is possible, but obviously not cheap. Again, very impressive!!

How much for the kit :)

I'd be willing to bet that the cost of this bodywork in a carbon/kevlar layup would cost nearly the same as the car it's going on~25-35K USD wouldn't surprise me, especially if it's made in Europe.

I just noticed...That shop has bare plate glass windows. You couldn't have that here in the U.S. All the thugs here would try and break in six seconds after the last person left for the evening. I gotta move away:(

You would loose that bet, full body should come at less than a third of that. However there is extensive work to be done on the car to fit it...

Complete us door with glass, trim etc is 37 kg.

    100lbs?
no way! I made two doors of glassfibere/honeycomb. The are as stiff as the oem ones but weight only 6,5 kg each. Complete with trim, lexan, hinges, locks etc etc. for two doors thats a gain of 61 kg or 134 lbs alone.

Making all parts like this will probaby save 200+ kg or 440lbs

to the OP. I would be interested in a set. I can pick it up at your shop:)

You are correct, the target is to get a race-ready car at less than 1000Kg. It shouldn't be too far.

wow, do the doors weigh that much? That's crazy that they weigh more than a front or rear clip, or even the rear hatch for that matter.

The door glass, and electric motors for the windows are heavy items, take out the speakers and there is a chunk of weight in these items alone. Its very noticeable if you close the doors on a glass 308 and a steel 308 you can feel the weight difference.

US cars have steel bars in the doors, European cars don't.

The steel bars aren't really bars though. More like outlines of bars and I would be surprised if they weigh a couple lbs each.

Question: Who makes those wheels? And I am afraid to ask how much.

Original Campagnolo magnesium wheels. Today you can get them remade in Italy in magnesium or get aluminum replicas in the UK (compomotive) both quite expensive.
