Why isn't my car selling?

Guys...need your input. I have a beautiful Mercedes GL450 for sale and have cut the price from $34,000 down to $28,700. That's about $1,300 less than they are bringing at Manheim for comparable miles, and this one is loaded and has a warranty to boot!

I'm at a loss here - you would think that someone would have long since snatched it up.

All I am getting is a bunch of low-ballers - $25K, etc.

Have you put it on Autotrader, Craigslist, ec. to gain more exposure?

Also, how long have you had it on the market?

been for sale for over a month. Started out @ $34K.

Craigslist, local paper, ebay, all of it.

I'm not saying the car is good because it's a pile of junk. i wouldn't sell it to anyone I know. But you would still think that there would be a market for an otherwise nice car priced under manheim auction.

 

I personally wouldn't want to get stuck if there's a puddle or something.

 

The reputation of the vehicle and the 70,200 miles which have been logged are not helping.

I beg to differ...everything on the car has been replaced! It's like brand new!

My dad had similar pains with a new CLK he bought in 2000 or 2001. That time-frame anyway. He sold it after about 20 months and felt frustrated that the dealership and Mercedes UK were not properly honouring the warranty to keep him on the road. The car also lost 65% of its value over only 20,000 miles. It definitely had more of Chrysler about the reliability than Mercedes and more about Mercedes than Chrysler about the purchase price. He went from being a life-long Mercedes fan to vowing never to buy another one ever again. He moved on to BMWs and Porsches.

Well, it either really did not sell or he may have defrauded ebay by ending the auction early with out a winning bid. What are ebays rules again?

 

Sad. 2008 GL 550 here, built in Alabama like Husker's. Virtually no problems, runs like a train and has held value very well. Only minor problems, all fixed under warranty the same day. Wife loves this car.

For some people, every car gives you the opportunity to be a drama queen. Glad it sold.

like I said, we replaced practically everything on it, so it's like new! btw, I think posting peoples' phone #s on the board without their permission might be against the rules too, but I could be wrong.
