the opening of the grill still in perfect original shape, but the grill actually disappeared...
Original colour can be seen too. It seems to have no front or back damages as I can see so far :)
Matching numbers and no accident, what a race car....
The original radiator fan motors (Lucas N. 2000/1-36 W 3GM) have been replaced.
    Hidden headlights emergered.

Did you see that someone put a racing manifold for a Dino up for auction on eBay? Obviously a 206GT didn't come from the factory with that racing manifold but if you were going to restore the car to its Sebring specification and somehow found out that it had raced with that special manifold, you might want to buy it.

Very pleased that you purchased this car - what a great find.

Thanks Keith for letting me know.
According to both Drivers very little was change from the street version, car felt slow ;-)
Headlamp covers, bumpers removed, race tyres, roll bar, additional fuel tank in lugguage boot (also the reason they had to drive with slightly open trunklid).
    Regards Matthias

thanks Andrew, I have been in contact with Dave Kutz already :)
Apparently Nate Pritzker took a lot more pictures of #00306 at Sebring. Does anybody know this guy? I can can`t get hold of him. Any help appreciated.

    1969 bis 19?? Luigi Chinetti Nart-team (USA)

The car was with one owner for 37 years and raced for the Penske-White Racing in the early 70ties...

    Regards Matthias

    Dear Sir:

I have no paper or photo documentation for the Dino. I purchased the car in 1974 from Penske-White Ferrari racing in Philadelphia, Pa. They bought it from Luigi Chenetti(sp?) NART in Greenwich, Connecticut. I was told the car raced at Daytona in 1968. The car was originally North American Racing Team Blue. Penske-White Ferrari had a loose relationship with Algar Ferrari in Philadelphia during the late 1970s. The salesman whose name I cannot recall was a tall, thin man with red hair and a red beard. I know he was active with Algar in the mid 1990s.

I am sorry I could not have been of more assistance with your project. It is a great car to drive! I wish you the very best

    Regards
    Bob Jama

He's still in the Ferrari game, see PhilvilleUSA.com

I can well imagine a "relationship" between Algar and Kirk F. White as they were running the 512 about that time....rebuilt the whole car to new standards, actually..

Contact '308GTB' (Dr. Wolinsky) as Phil is in the same FCA Chapter as the doctor...

Matthias, is Blu Notte the same as Blu Sera? In Italian, notte=night, and sera=evening. The color around your rear window looks very much like Blue Sera, but the photo at #49, assuming it to be the same color, looks like black or, possibly, Blu Scuro. Fred

    Hello Fred,

Blu Notte Net. was the predecessor to Blu Sera Met.
The colours are different. Blu Notte is darker, closer to black, so real notte...
Blu Sera looks a bit more like modern dark blu.

Only 4 Dino were painted in Blu Notte Met. (two 206 GT and two 246 early L-series).
Blu Sera Met. wasn`t that rare, 68 Dino painted original in that colour.

    Regards Matthias

    Matthias,

Can you give us totals for each color if you have it ... or are you keeping all the fun facts to yourself? :) Perhaps start a new thread ... would be very interesting.

I`m a very happy man today, because I received some missing parts from the previous owner Mr. Jama who bought #00306 from Penske Racing in 1974 and converted the car.
    - both original seats (one marked with body no. 102)
    - original Momo wooden steering wheel
    - original lead hammer
    - original glove box lid
    - two headlamp covers from Maranello Concessionaires Ltd. (likely from the late 70`s)
I think I have been really lucky to get my hands on these parts...

    Regards Matthias

Now that is kinda like cheating on a restoration....

    Congrats on finding those.

Are the headlight covers the curved kind that follow a body contour? I had never seen these before in wrapping like this

Shawn, I would say they more flat, precisely like the onces fitted at Sebring.

    original it`s printed, no label....
only on 206 GT and early L-Series with the old air cleaner housing
the new air cleaner housing from late L-Series onwards had no print on

I did a reproduction of the print as a kind of silk screen, looks 100% original
    :)
