Hi fellow F-Chatters, I'm sure there are a few of us going to the race in Montreal in a couple of weeks, and I thought it would be cool to pull some information about things to do/see while there. I went last year and it was by far and away the best F1 race I've seen live, and I'm hoping to make it even better. Missed the pit walk last year, so we've ensured we've got a flight that will get us there in time for that. What else should people attending be heading to, any media events, parties, ferrari displays, e.t.c? Many thanks.
I recommend this event hosted by my old friend Joe Saward, one of the sharpest, most respected, and independent journalists in the F1 press corps: http://www.morienval.com/montreal.html
Notre-Dame Basilica 116 Rue Notre Dame (corner of St. Sulpice) Also, spending time on Crescent Street at night. Huge parties.
Just head to these 3 streets, and you will hit all the hot spots: Crescent St. St Laurent Blvd St. Catherine St. They are all in central downtown.
Not sure what you are up for but Go Karting is popular and Little Italy has a great car show Saturday nite.
If you want to see so many Ferraris your head spins, just hang around Peel Street, especially on Thursday. Also take a stroll down Rue de la Montagne. It's one block over from Crescent Street. As mentioned, Crescent St. and Little Italy are sure bets, as well. Crescent St. is party-central all weekend long and Little Italy (Blvd. Saint-Laurent) will be packed with cars of all makes and models on Saturday night. If it's driver sightings you're after, there's a VIP event at Ferrari of Quebec each year. I can't remember which day it was last year, but I saw Alonso and Massa there. The drivers and some team members always make an appearance. Call the dealership for more info. Hope that helps!
Excellent! Taking my wife and 19 and 20 year old daughters, (all motorheads and know how to have a fun time!) Image Unavailable, Please Login
Where do you find the car show on Saturday? This is my third trip to Montreal for the race, haven't made it to Little Italy yet. Not entirely sure where it is, but it looks like if I get off the Metro at Jean-Talon I should be in pretty good shape.
Possibility of marrying one of your daughters? In all seriousness though, thanks for the great tips. Seems my dad and I are much closer to Crescent Street this year than last. Should be a great weekend. Go Hamilton!!!!
Hey Wayne! Are you bringing the champagne or am I? I just noticed on your tickets i am sitting near you in section 8 your seats are just a tad better then mine I think Have fun and enjoy the whole experience!
Getting off at Jean-Talon isn't bad, but Little Italy is still a bit of a walk from there. Try the stop just before that: De Castelnau. That will put you right on Boulevard Saint-Laurent and you should be able to see where you want to go from the exit. The makeshift racetrack (and street closure barriers) right across the street are impossible to miss. Just follow the crowd.
LOL, Crescent is fun, We are going to try to find the Little Italy car show tonight. Is it an official thing that has entries and booths? or is it like Cars and coffee and people just show up? Is there a start time?
Dominic I'll be glad to buy you a glass of champagne, look for me, I'll be wearing a red Ferrari shirt LOL. Have fun!
