Both your 16M & 430 are completely standard ? besides my 430 ECU tune it has BMC air filters but that is it

Both totally standard with regards to engine, exhaust, filters etc. I did upgrade the air box on the 430 to Carbon (Ferrari factory version with horns) but nothing else.

This is exactly same with most modern cars, main power switch only needs to be off for 15 mins max tho, overnight not necessary

Russell, if anything I should notice the diff more, having the 430 Spider and SCUD (rather than 16M and 430 Coupe) as the weight is reversed, maybe 430 Spider ecu tune helps @ lower rpms but I anyway certainly notice a big diff above 6K rpm in fav of SCUD

Richard, you've said it - that's why I'm struggling so much to understand why you don't notice the difference.

As you say, the comparison I'm making is purely down to the power and torque difference between 16M and 430 coupe since they are virtually identical weights - I really notice how much more tractable the 16M is compared to the 430 coupe without having to resort to high revs - it makes for a superb all round driving experience. On the other hand you have getting on for 200 kg difference in weight between the 430 spider and Scud coupe and they feel the same up until over 6k? Doesn't make sense to me.

Anyway, whatever the technical facts are, the most important thing is that you happy with your cars ;) I would be just interesting if someone could come in with some other dynos made on the Scud.

Regarding the sound of the new headers, Richard, the difference is huge. It doesn't appear so on the video make with my Iphone. I took a couple of other samples while driving the car in my area. Will publish them on YouTube. But compared to the real world, there is a big difference. The sound is now very powerfull, much louder too. From a powerfull bass sound to a quite high pitched sound. The exhaust makes also a lot of "bubbles" when releasing the throttle at 3500 rpm, quite similar to the Gran Turismo. I found out also a new sound starting from 4000 rpm which is a very nice singing metallic melodic sound. Difficult to describe here. All in all, it's a real improvement in sound, just incomparable what is was before.

This could be the answer to my 430 Mk2 headers which have robbed my 430 Spider of its manly tones. 2 Weeks ago I put a Europipe on the Porsche TT and that too has a great overun sound on deceleration too now.

Just took off the Fabsoeec sport cat, and put back original cat back. The car feel a lot weaker. I just feel the the Cat is actually make the car breath better than the stock cat, and I don't find a lot of white fibre in the cat neither.

Just wondering if I put capristo header and fabspeed cat, what would the result will be...but I dont have the dyno here.

Guess it's the equivalent of castrating your car, but all for the good of the environment :D.

Here are the first videos I uploaded. Sorry for the vibrating pictures and even the sound is quite far from the reality. But with headphones, you can have a better idea of the new engine sound. Multiply with 10 what you hear and you'll get closer how it is in terms of loudness. Also, the little Iphone microphone isn't capturing all the sounds and especially the new sound I tried to describe before. This is really the best part coz the F430 never sounded very melodic while now it really does.

    Test Drive 1 :

Test Drive 2 through a long tunnel (with although quite limited speed coz seriously overspeeding in Switzerland can cost you a life...):

Sfefvan, tunnels are "cheating " with any Ferrari sound why don't you used the sprectrometer like you did with the air intake resonators so we can compare, another question for the Capristo exhaust mount I guess you have drill the chassis cross member ?

    Hi Stef,

    Thanks for all the information.
I have to admit that the car sounds amazing!
    One quick question please.
Nevermind Dyno's, but when you drive the car now on roads that you know very well, can you feel the extra power?
I am always a traditionalist and i go with the fell of my pants!

    Thanks Harry.

First off all, on the way back on the Germans motorways, I felt very strongly the difference. Many sections are limited at 120 km/h, then others with no speed limits. Re-accelerating from 120 km/h to 250 km/h was a huge difference compared to the trip going towards Capristo's location. And the distance was quite long enough to experience this (700 km).

Then, as you said very well, I drove around today on the usual roads I use a lot in my area to validate again the shown extra torque from the dynos. There is no doubt that the extra torque is there as I had to be even carefull not to overspeed too much. Acceleration is much stronger and endurant. It's just a different car now :D

Hahaha, it's "cheating" just louder in the tunnels :)

As I wrote before, I will use the spectrometer again to mesure the sound and compare them with those I took before. But that will be for a bit later as it takes a lot time to process the sound and make a clean sound capture setup.

Regarding the brackets, no, no need to drill anything. This is not part of the Capristo's culture. They do not require any change and going back to stock is straightforward. The brackets are simply attached on the cross member using the two existing main bolds of the cross member as you can see on the photo.

Now a last thing regarding the Scud dyno.

The dyno I posted before was the best dyno ever made by Capristo of all tested Scuds. He just sent me another dyno of another Scud which has even lower performances (dyno made in April 2011).

Just to compare what's comparable ;)

and here is a dyno comparing 3 Scuds upgraded with the complete Scuderia exhaust system, compared with an upgraded F430 having also the complete Scuderia exhaust system.

Now guess which one has the best performances :)

Are you simply not proving that the Capristo upgrade system is optimised for a standard 430 and not the Scuderia! Can't see any other conclusion.

    Sound:

I say the sound of stef's F430 is just sound like a Scud in the video. It's much different to those F430 with sport Cats.

My F430 with sport cats sounds a lot more deeper sound (bass), now I hear high pitch in your car that's really what I wanted.

    Well done thanks for sharing.

Maybe you don't understand dyno graphs but it's definitely not what is shown in all the dynos I posted here ;)
