haha! forgot all about the "underbird". he really was an underdog that year...and IIRC the last of the independents, and the last of the owner/drivers, to win a championship. I wonder if he'd even recognize the NASCAR of today.
I remember it like it was yesterday, I have two huge tubs full of Kulwicki stuff. You do NOT want to be one of my idols, and I have only had three of them: Donohue Senna Kulwicki The neat thing is, I have met and have had candid conversation with all three of them. IIRC Rick Hendrick tried very hard to get Alan to drive for him, offered him a ton of cash, Alan said no, he preferred to be his own boss. I'm sure Alan would be retired from driving by now, but don't you ever wonder 'what would have been?' if NO racing drivers had been killed, anywhere, not in a car, plane, helicopter?
yeah, I hope I'm never one of your idols I'll always play "what would have been" about Greg Moore....Helio got his seat. Greg coulda/woulda/shoulda been multiple CART/IRL champion and 500 winner by now. instead, just some kid from Vancouver nobody remembers.
Yep. That's what is sad. Folks all remember Senna dying, few remember someone died the day before on the same track. Few know a guy died in Canada in 1982, but they all remember Gilles died that year.
Mike Skinner just wadded up his car in qualifying. can't remember the last time I saw a car crash that hard in qualifying for a Cup race. I assume he doesn't make the show? (go or go home car?)
If I heard the announcers correctly...I believe he is out. After the crash that locked TJ Bell into the field so I assume that means Skinner goes home. Just realized the TV coverage isn't live; pole winner mentioned here several minutes before his run was shown: **spoiler**
Did you have him selected on your C team? I DO hate it when low budget teams have issues, blow up, crash, not make the field, it hurts them even more to go home with a broken car..
Kurt wrecked his primary car in practice; does that mean he goes to the back on Sunday? LOL, nope that is one problem with the C list drivers; so many are not running the whole season, or have to qualify on time, it really limits choices.
btw, does anyone know how things change (or don't change) re: "summer season" vs. full season points? do we get to strike the worst performance from each season? or just once for the whole year?
Nothing changes. It appears to just be a way to keep people interested over a long season and possibly produce 4 different winners (each segment + overall). Also, it gives folks that join after the first race a chance to be a winner. Each segment...
Whoever started Kyle Busch: his car failed post-race inspection, you may lose some points there. I also noticed two folks apparently have given up on the season: the guys they had starting had zero starts left. Happens every year, usually 3-4 give up. The other thing that sucks is Kurt Busch got more points than Jeff Gordon did. That ain't right.
If your driver keeps their finishing position but loses championship points do you lose them in the fantasy league too? (since NASCAR rarely if ever DSQ's a driver) and yes, I noticed the same re: a few people have given up/forgotten about this. that's why I wanted at decent field in order to play
I believe Yahoo will dock them as well, it's only right, but I don't really know. I think this is why they said 'updated points available Monday June 13', and they were not updated after the event like usual. He had 96 points out of this event, let's see what he ends up with.
Yikes. Even with folks dropping out I still finished 8th out of 9. I was 8th after the first week too, which was also won by Stuporbird: http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=140308967&postcount=65 Image Unavailable, Please Login
