Now that Austin is on the official FIA calendar, will the race really happen?

  1. Yes, it will happen.

  2. No, no way for construction to finish.

I know. Was making reference to the inaccurate comments f1topfan made a few weeks ago....

turns out the company who owns the land (AHSPE) and the company who issued the securities share the same Tax id

No. I'm 26. I do however when the National news channels didn't have scrolling graphics all over them.

On a side note. If the company that issued the shares a while back, is the same that owns the land., and they only issued 12MM....

Any way to tell through gov't records how much $$ they actually have?

tax id = 27-4131657 for those who are curious.

Guess you didn't know it's the only state (as far as I know) where business entities don't have to disclose anything publicly :). Therefore, people who don't want their identities known, open their corporations/LLCs/etc there.

No idea why these investors even bother getting anything built in US. The red tape these days and idiot committee debates ruin everything.

Epstein is a moron. Olympics + World cup events have been notorious for bankrupting cities and leaving taxpayers on the hook for decades of debt payments. If an event is economically viable there should be NO problem attracting private capital. If governments "need" to provide assistance this means there is some backroom corruption going on and costs are being inflated.

    I wouldn't book yet...

    http://www.statesman.com/sports/pro/f1-sets-june-17-2012f1-sets-june-17-2012-as-tentative-austin-1517648.html

If they hold a race in June, no one will come back. As far as booking, here is a hot tip:
5 - 10 minutes south of Austin are two towns, Buda and then Kyle. Buda is where sh130 that goes straight to the track. From I 35 in Buda to the track is 10 -12 minutes. You will skip all the Austin traffic down 71 east to 130 south to the track. This is the "back door" to COTA. There are limited hotels in Kyle and Buda, so in that case I would book now. Always a chance to reschedule later.

A number of places have jacked up rates, imposed a 4-5 day minimum stay and made the reservations prepaid and non-refundable.

I didn't spend alot of time on this, but this was the case at the W and Driskill downtown as well as the Westin at the Domain. Barton Creek said they were releasing the rooms for reservations late last week or early this week, I never followed up.

Anyway ended up booking with Starwood points. Still had to go with a 3 night minimum but it is cancellable until the week of the race. The notion of a prepaid, non-refundable reservation for a race at a facility that isn't even built just seems a bit ridiculous.

anyone thinking of staying in a hotel will be dissappointed. we've gone to the casi cookoffs down in terlingua and always rented a motorhome. it really is the only reasonable option where four star accomodations are more than a mile away. load the kitchen larder with goodies. run the genny for a/c power, tv and hot showers. why torture yourself sitting in traffic on a single lane highway when you could be lounging at the rv. we've got friend over in victoria with a big diesel pusher that has three kickouts. stop by for a cold one.

If you're wanting a less urban hotel. You might want to search for bed and Breakfasts around Bastrop, It's east of the facility so you might miss a lot of the Austin traffic getting there.

Smaller local hotel you might want to check into is Hotel San Jose. I've never actually been inside, but it looks pretty neat outside.

I can tell you there's work being done on gas lines; a buddy's brother in law is a master welder and has been working at the F1 track.... Dont know exactly what theyre doing, but I know his hourly rate is rediculous.

Can you ask him how many pipes they're moving? best what I could tell, they have the permits to move 2. one around 1.7km, another around 2.5km (give or take, going off memory here) that leaves a few more in the vicinity unmoved..?

All the major chains are there....I built the Marriott at the Capitol on 11th street but IIRC it was sold, it's something else now..

Driskoll downtown is 'old money', Sheraton is also downtown...

Try the Lost Pines Resort, it's on the east side near Bastrop.
