Expect anything from Hamilton... He will flip sides for a few GBP let alone a few more pennies.

Why would Red Bull in their right minds want a moron driving for them is besides me.

Just like Horner apparently said, it wouldn't be smart to partner 2 of the top 3 drivers (Vettel, Hamilton, Alonso), especially with relatively fresh history of that not working out (Alonso/Hamilton). They'd jeopardize losing Vettel, which IMO is a much more desirable 'package' (less controversial, more likable, etc).

I doubt it's gonna happen. Red Bull would be stupid to piss off Vettel. LH is dreaming if he thinks he will drive for Red Bull unless Vettel leaves.

I think its also stupid for Hamilton to move as Mclaren has been built around him. The problem with Redbull is if Newey ever leaves, I think it would be the end of them.

Hamilton is an idiot if he leaves McLaren although I would love to see it as it might be a career-ruining move. Red Bull only has a couple more years at the top, IMO before Newey calls it a career and they begin to slip down the order. I see many parallels there with Benetton. McLaren will always be a top squad.

They won't drop to the back of the field if Newey leaves - they really have a strong team now with lots of capable heads in there - but he sure contributes to a big part of their success. I wonder if Vettel signing with them for years to come was a wise move.

If Ham doesn't clean up his act, he will be demoted to some other team or plain kicked out. The guy drives like a pissed off teenager at the moment and I am sure Ron Dennis is tired of having to make excuses for him

Yeah, because he's changed teams so many times, it's like when the wind changes.

Oh wait, that's the Ferrari driver, Alonso.

Didn't Hamilton just beat Jim Clark's record for driving the most races in a row for the same team?

In that light, and again recognizing that he's driven for McLaren ONLY for 5 seasons straight, your statement above seems pretty silly, nearly stupid. On what possible basis would you claim that "he will flip sides for a few GBP"?

On the other hand, I would suspect that he WOULD change teams for a faster car that gives him a better chance at the WDC, and right now the only team that offers that is Red Bull. They've had the faster car for the past 2 years, and this year also. IF Newey stays, chances are Red Bull will remain as having the fastest car. If McLaren doesn't come out of the gate in 2012 with a race winning car, I could easily see Hamilton trying to go to Red Bull.

The GBP? I doubt that would be a factor at all in Hamilton's decision. He wants to win races, period.

Vettel and Hamilton are probably the only two seriously first-rate drivers who would both be more than game to drive on equal bases against each other.

    It would be epic.

There are a few issues with Hamilton going to Red Bull:

-The earliest he can drive for RB is 2013, right when the new engines are currently set to be released. Who will dominate with the new engine formula is anyone's guess as it's radically different, and turbo engine performance disparity will be even larger than it is now; in the way of drivability even if peak power and fuel consumption are controlled by the FIA.

-It's unclear if/how long RB will maintain such a healthy dominance as McLaren has now caught them in race pace. Will Lewis want to leave in 2012.

-With Vettel and Webber, RB are currently typically finishing 1st and 3rd/4th. The best result possible is 1st/2nd in any race, but having two tier 1 drivers to go for this better result opens the team up to personal conflicts between the drivers and on-track race incidents if they both have similar pace. It happens every time, Senna/Prost, Alonso/Hamilton, 2010 Vetel/Webber. Webber is a good #2 at the moment, and when he goes home there will be other equally solid #2 drivers to pair with Vettel who will be fast enough to consistently bring home good points for the Constructor's championship but be slow enough to not get in Vettel's way, eg. Rosberg potentially or upcoming Hulkenburg (who might be very very fast). Such tier 2 drivers will be significantly cheaper than Hamilton too.

Agreed, though I'd rather see an epic battle between vettel and hamilton in an equally competitive Mclaren. I seriously doubt he'd ever leave the team that made him, and picked him over a two time wdc.

Hambone is stupid, don't underestimate him, and Newey's crafty designs may have run their course...

Get back to your own "I have a pathological hatred of Hamilton because he secretly turns me on" thread.

The article states clearly (twice) that Hamilton's
contract with McLaren runs through 2012, by
    my calendar that's next year.

So, the soonest he would be able to love to RBR
is 2013, also clearly stated in the article.

It is a good idea... Hamilton will be a good number 2 driver to Petrov. Hamilton is currently a good number 2 driver to Button! :p

Where would he go? Back to Mclaren? Doubt it, Renault? Could they afford him? Then theres Ferrari, NO WAY would Red Bull let him go there. Plus he doesn't seem the type to have a desire to go to Ferrari.

Wasn't there a rumor that he wanted to leave in the near future to go and design boats?

That near future came and went long ago.
