i have owned a few Ferraris and for the last 6 months, having a blast with the 458. Am happy that McLaren have up the game and this will push all others especially Ferrari to give us better cars in the future. Looking forward to my McLaren delivery in Dec. I am sure it will be a fantastic ride.

It's not him, it's the diff in the back of the Macca. It's essentially open and doesn't allow you to do big slides, very yawn... very Ron Dennis...

utter fantasy: the McL would unstick the 458 simply because it is lighter, faster, more 'high tech', etc.

most are finding that one car is a lot more enjoyable, and that car isn't the one you take great efforts 'defending', all kudos despite it being a slow, fat pig (according to you). you really like the McL, good for you, enjoy it when it arrives...but nomatter what you say/do, it will not change the fact that people find your love ugly/boring looking, dull sounding, bland tasting of an automobile. such a waste of tech potential...

You could call its looks and sound whatever you want (although I disagree with you), but this car is assuredly not a waste of tech potential. In fact, I could argue it pushes the tech envelope more than any other car in its price sector.

funny, i always thought my 458 lacks soul compared to my older fcars, 430/scud/599/612......
but yes, it gets better as i pile on the miles and MPH, but with older fcars, u get much more soul doing 5MPH and u have to be going really fast in the 458 to see its peerless.
I cant imagine what i can do to a mclaren on public roads.

You must work for mclaren marketing, correct? Or, at least, you should be getting paid for all of the biased banter

That's right. Weight in sports cars does not matter. They are for looking pretty and sounding great. Who cares if they are slow.

Well, next week, we will see actual lap times from a bunch of different sources. The picture will be much clearer.

And with that one simple sentence you reveal yourself as little more than a troll. Or are you really saying the the 458 is 'slow'?

Yes, many mags find Italia more enjoyable, but it's a function what you want out of the car like that: if you want sound and great looks coupled with instantaneous throttle response then Italia is the way to go. If you like having good steering feel, day to day usability coupled with the ultimate in performance, then Macca is the clear winner.

Compared to McLaren, it is. As slow as 430 is in comparison to Italia, since the performance gap is roughly similar.

it's really as simple as this : the entire driving experience of a road car can't be captured in a few numbers (and i'm an engineer!).

When the whole driving experience is told, the 458 wins :) even in the UK press.

Agreed, I can see another 60 page thread. What is beyond dispute is that those 3 magazines all chose the 458. ;)

Don't worry, the lap times are just around the corner. We will see which car is clear winner performance wise.

You become more ridiculous with every post. We don't need lap times, we already know which is the fastest car.
