We know how many were built (see below) but it would be really interesting to know how many are still running? I've done some investigating in the UK and while the DVLA (government licensing unit) don't breakdown lists of older Ferraris, i did come across a some numbers of MOT (in UK you need to pass MOT (road worthiness) test to drive on the road for a year) passes/failiures in 2007 that the BBC asked for in the freedom of info act.

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/opensecrets/MOT_Make_Model_Comp_2007.xls
opens a spreadsheet which contains all the data.

First Ferrari is at row 5591 in the spreadsheet. (it doesn't have 365s)

It shows 38, 400s and 32, 412s passed so it least it shows how many are on the road (they'll be some more in storage etc i guess) buts its not many

    400 total production 501 (354 auto), UK RHD 27 man/137 auto
    400i total production 1294 (873 auto), UK RHD 28 man/152 auto
    412 total production 576 (306 auto), UK RHD 24 man/61 auto

More for the UK chaps, do you Guys think 70 left is feasible? i guess you could have say another 30 off the road not taxed but usable. which means 100 or so out of original 400 odd. which means may be only 25 manuals?

    what do you reckon?

I looked at getting one when I was in Aust. Huge price and quality differences - without a TV or movie reference, even with the pics of Enzo in one, I think they will suffer owner abuse more than most models. (from limo conversion, chopped roof, engine swaps to poor upkeep and driver error at speed ... also am sure a larger percentage have been at some stage a wedding/rental chariot than the 308s of the time.

I still love the look, but even Daft Punk has sold theirs.

Seventy on the road at any one time sounds reasonable, but there's probably thirty more in good condition around the UK
I think there may be a lot of them in some kind of storage, awaiting parts or funds or the attention of the right specialist. The usual tired ones do the rounds of dealers and auction houses every couple of years but from what i heard, a good many are kept by owners of other Ferrari types and these cars are not necessarily kept MOTd, though they are correctly looked after.
