It depends from track configuration, track conditions and driver. I've just told you that Autobild lapped the full ring configuration about 11 seconds better than Sport Auto and with passenger. It was the same press car (DP544TV) but track results was quite different from supertest All other supercar tested in 4-5 days (LFA, ZR-1, GTR, Superleggera, AMG-SLS) were slower by few seconds. The other left hand drive press car is plated DP543TV Here it's tested by Italian magazine 'AUTO' by Luigi Moccia (ex Ferrari challenge pilot), in Alfa Romeo Balocco 'langhe' configuration called 'The Italian ring'. (I know it very well ....) It's quite impressive how this car perform and it is clear that, to do the time, you must have 'balls' with all guardrails so near the track. http://www.auto.it/video/ferrari/458_italia/2011/02/15-3117/Ferrari+458+Italia+test+Auto+a+Balocco Cheers
Sure, the point, though, is that if you compare the differences between AutoBild and SPort Auto, on a comparable length as Bedford, the difference comes out to roughly 1.5 secs. Same with Balocco lap times. In other words, different conditions/tires/ and a racing driver gain you around 1.5 secs. However, going to Bedford you gain 3 secs with a journalist driving. Doesn't it seem a bit strange? Look at scud vs. Italia comparo here: http://fastestlaps.com/comparisons/ferrari_430_scuderia-vs-ferrari_458_italia.html All the laptimes are pretty close except two: Balocco and Bedford. Maybe Balocco is the (racing) driver, but Bedford is even bigger with a journalist driving.
May be teh 'deutsche uber alles' mode of Sport auto chief tester mode can explain partially that difference (he doesn't like ferraris) If I refer to Sport Auto supertest, a Nissan GTR keep up on track against a 458 both in Hockenhaim that on nurburgring. For the rest of the world (From Autocar to Evo, From Quattroruote to Auto, from Motortrend to Automoto and Autobild) the GTR is by seconds slower in each track ... That's a bit strange in my opinion, don't you think ?
Slowly You came to my point. Balocco 430 scuderia test was done in very hot wheter condition, clearly reported by auto to explain why a Lambo superleggera was 1,3s faster. http://www.fastestlaps.com/comparisons/lamborghini_gallardo_superleggera-vs-ferrari_430_scuderia.html Which is the only track where the Scuderia was slower in comparision to a Superleggera ? Balocco So track condition do the miracle. Why it's not possible to happen for a 458 against a GT2 RS ? Krzys, came on ...
Wait, we are here arguing whether the difference of 1.5 secs or 1 sec is a reasonable variation between tests. I am conceding your point that 1.5 sec is within the realm of possibility, instead of 1 sec, which I maintained before. But, remember for RS (and Gumpert, and the scud) we are talking 3 secs gap, without the benefit of a racing driver. That's the strange part.
Oh yeah, it is very strange, but obviously Nissan had their own problems with credibility as the whole press release battle between Porsche and Nissan shows. By the way, I also used to think that Sport Auto was biased against Ferrari, even though Von Saurma was very enthusiastic about the scud, but after the recent Ferrari shenanigans, I am not so sure anymore.
No, no ... A Scuderia was from 0,6s to 1,8s faster than a SL (ring doesn't count) and loose in balocco for 1,3s (means from 1,9 s to 3,1 s as differential due to track conditions) More the 458 changed its shoes (Pilot supersport).... Here they talk about 1,5 s per lap (5,3 km lenght) so we have it. http://www.roadandtrack.com/special-report/review-michelin-pilot-super-sport-tires Kryzs, give up ...
With the help of the spirit eminating from the words of the Dali Lama, Kryzs and I have found peace and happiness --maybe even enlightenment. I suggest all those who want to continue this waste of a thread please read his sacred words in post 450 and you too will find the truth to the meaning of life. 450. It's the bomb.
Damn, why did it take you until 450 posts to figure this boy out. You fell into his adolescent argumentive langauge that equates to the same as arguing with your Daughter over what time she needs to come home-------------the argument will never end. I guess when you spend around $270k plus on a car-------it makes you argumentive if someone has a differnt point of view ---facts----proof---whatever the case maybe.
Oh dear..... with the Stig driving at Rockingham the Mclaren comes............ 4th!!! The 458 spanked it http://vimeo.com/25352861
Mr. bdelp, We all understand after the 450th post you got it---------- your last 10 or so posts have been un-like you-------- please enough--------------
That is pretty amazing. I'm not picking on Kryzs here but what the Stig said was that because of the lack of being able to turn off the Nanny-controls on the Mac that they believed that caused it to be --- slower than the Lambo spider? Well, it IS a second quicker than the Audi... I would have never have guessed that in a million years. NEVER. Image Unavailable, Please Login
awesome .... for all the pre-production hype (which some, it seems, swallowed hook, line and sinker), the McLaren is looking like a real dog ... or would that be, an also-ran toy?
