Stef, I think you misunderstand me. I am tuning MY car. Not yours. I am happy to give you access to the info to help you tune your car under NDA. Or not. I have access to information that no other "tuners" do because of my relations with the OEMs. I have a proven hardware system for flash programming vehicles - we've been doing that since 1996 - LOL.
Okay, this is a bit off but what's the mode settings to dyno the f430? Would appreciate any replies. Thanks
Hi Russell, I just wanted to clarify something related to the Dynos. Before I took the decision to go for the Capristo headers, I exchanged with them nearly during 1 year! I remember how I initially wrote to them regarding their first dynos results I got last year. I told them in my first exchange that their dynos were wrong and even that they maybe have cheated on the CF (Correction Factor) values to get higher results. Despite my very negative reaction on their dynos, Capristo reacted very well and spend a lot time explaining me how they got such results. They put me even in contact with Dynostar Holland so that I could make myself sure that the CF values can not be corrected and that the figures are reliable. So, yes, I gave Capristo a tough time justifying their results. But from this starting point (last year), we have been exchanging a lot in a very constructive way up to the point I made my decision to go for their headers. Last year, I somehow had the same suspicious approach to such results published by Capristo. I was unable to make the difference between them and other exhaust manufacturers thinking that they all claim great results without any technical plausible justification. Now I understand how Capristo made their reputation of excellence in the oem and aftermarket parts business. They spend all their energy in studying, prototyping, restudying and improving up to the stage they reach the final product which is perfect. They don't waste energy in lots of advertising and nice catalogues or brochures. Their products make their advertising. I was even so surprised to see how the boss (Antonio) was working himself with their industrial machines giving the final touch on the creation of a new mould Another example, the Capristo mufflers are welded by the best specialists by hand. All welds are made of TIG welds outside as well as inside. Any other exhaust manufacturer will just make the nice TIG welds outside and classical cheap stick welds inside the exhaust while it's inside the muffler you should have at least the TIG welds...I've seen other brand mufflers, even very famous names, cut in half and discovered another world inside them... So yes, I can understand your reaction because I reacted the same a year ago But at that time, their was almost no concrete information available of Capristo products and I had to assess/study/control everything myself. I just wanted to share here some info so that others don't have to go through the same process. Just a question of sharing some real info Last but not least, if I'm not happy with my headers in the next 2 weeks of purchase, I can send them back to Capristo and get fully refund.
Now, your questions : you're right, the upper graph represents the torque and lower graph is the HP. The line represents : Yellow : My F430 stock Purple : A scuderia (the best results they had on all tested Scuderias) Green : My F430 with Capristo headers Red : A F430 transformed in Scuderia with the entire Capristo exhaust system Blue : A Scuderia with the entire Capristo exhaust system
No Russell, you're not wrong at all. Your analysis is perfectly right and I agree, Antonio Capristo and myself got very surprised of these results of my F430. We did 3 different dynos to validate these figures (stock F430) and 9 dynos with the new headers. All 11 graphs are accurate between each other. I didn't to anything specific on my car except a very good care and some minor home made improvements. On road, I must confess that my car is really strong and I had already many chances to compare it with other cars including the Scud. This will remain a mystery for now but I'm already doing my research on how I got such a performant engine.
I even tried to buy a pair today incl. brackets but they refused even a 5% discount ! so I didn't, strange way to do business if you go direct as they obviously have to pay their distributors ??
Richard, It's great that you finally bought their headers. I think you won't regret it. And the Euro is really in our favor Are you going to install them with your local shop? Now it's up to you to report here your impressions especially compared to your Scud (I suppose you bought the headers for your F430 Spider ?).
I did cos life is too short, we will have at least some seat of pants comparisons but all I can say is my new Ferrari 430 Spider Mk2 (bullsh*t) OEM replacement headers swayed the call immensely. They will be installed by Kraehenmann, Meilen
you correct on the point that we do not advertise much , our believe is that our products do . Our business plan is to mostly invest in research and testing as oppose to huge marketing budgets . WE strive to produce the best possible parts and continually improve with time .
Let's have some fun : have a look at this video ! Yes, Capristo install also their exhaust on the.....2CV ! The proof is here. Never heard a crazy 2CV sound? Well, it's all here. PS: for those who listen carefully, they will recognise a very well known engine sound... there is something else hiding under this 2CV body...another hint? watch the wheels [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xb011YYiXXo[/ame] PS: All credits for Antonio Capristo
Its a tunnel therefore "cheating" again, the liberation of all the HP and Sound from my Ferrari B**** Mk2 headers is planned for July 5th
Now, I got some fresh news. Something I was waiting for since a long time. Indeed, there have been lot of discussions regarding aftermarket sport cats. I have not been convinced by any aftermarket sport cat because they are all far inferior to the current F430 sport cats which are excellent, are large 300 cpi cats and have a very good coating. All 200 cpi after market cats have an inferior coating quality and some of them are so small that it makes the engine running in difficult conditions. And yes, we have to respect also the emission regulations which, depending on the countries, are strict. Playing with this can put one in serious troubles in case of an imposed inspection. You gonna say, no, not Capristo again Well yes, unbelievable but they just did it! They spend a very long time in research to offer the best product. No cells, no small cats with cheating spacers etc. Most of all, these new 200 cpi catalytic converters have been TUV approved for the Euro4 standard (Euro 5 is under way). TUV stands for "German Technical Supervisory Board" who is a very severe organization. Obtaining the TUV approval means that stock cats can be officially replaced with the Capristo cats respecting entirely the European emissions regulations. It is also very expensive and a real investment to obtain the TUV (BTW, Capristo's Twin Sound mufflers are, as far as I know, the only aftermarket mufflers which are TUV approved). So whats special about their new sport catalytic converters : They are 200 cells (fulfills the Euro 4 standard despite less number of cells) No CEL guaranteed Inside diameter : 127mm - 5 inch Outside diameter: 130mm - 5.12 inch Length : 120mm - 4.72 inch The substrate is anchored at the surrounding container by means of 4 rolled grooves. This minimizes loosening the substrate with high performance engines. Best coating available on the market. These sport cats have already been validated Euro4 on Porsche 997 Turbo, passing all tests successfully and no CEL. Cant wait to see the results for the F430. For now, I'm just glad to see that a serious alternative to stock cats is getting available on the market Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Stef understates exactly how severe the TUV is. They have no humor and getting things past (approved by) their technical staff says a lot about the quality of the product. (I could say how bad I think they are, but then my post would be illegal in Germany and a few other countries )
Oh, Stef - do you know who did the coating (privately if you must) ?? I have a few ideas, there are only a very few top-quality precious metal coaters left for stainless matrix catalysts. Jim
No Jim, I don't know who is doing the coating. I suppose this info is part of Capristo's capital which I respect and do trust
Stef, regarding the CATs: I installed a set of sport cats on my 430, do feel the car being more responsive, and louder. However, I do ocationaly get CEL and red Hot CAT, the color is nearly lava red orange. If the 200 cell CAT is described as bad, and interrupt the engine so bad, I shouldn't feel the car is being more alive. Do they actually make the car breath better or not. Or may be straight pipe is better options? I heard Fabspeed is bring out new updated sport Cats, should they meet the standard of the described capristo Cats.
should add my Fabspeed SCUD cats (which are larger than 430) are giving a regular CEL, and their 90 degree bent CEL spacers units are just stupid as on a SCUD at least you can't mount them when the CATS are already on the car as screwing them in is not possible due to the gearbox, thanks Fabspeed, NOT. In addition it makes O2 sensors closer to a hot exhaust as opposed to the O2 spacers simply being vertical
