    Hey!

So I go to Minneapolis every year or so and am still discovering
your city, it's so big! Love it!

Last time I barely found this great district of restaurants, man
was that nice! Can anyone tell me where I was again?

Are there other nice places like that in town that I should try?
You know, casual dining, outdoor patios, nice and calm, no
    music cranked.

    Thanks!

    Looks like St Anthony Main.

Let me know when you're coming and I'll help you pick some places.

Thanks! I'll be there this Sunday.

On the lower picture, I think behind me was a University or something.
Hope that helps. I also have a picture of the skyline from my seat if
    that helps.

The Stone Arch Bridge is straight ahead and about a block behind you is University Avenue. The U of M is East about a mile away. I worked at the General Mills Technical Center (formerly Pillsbury R&D) across the street for 10 years back in the 80s.

Last weekend was the Stone Arch Festival of the Arts. Next Sunday will be quieter but the weather forecast is finally good.

There are quite a few good places depending on where you're staying and if you have a car. I live in Bloomington and only occasionally visit downtown Minneapolis because of the parking hassle.

I've never eaten there, supposedly good.

Assuming that you mean Nicollet Island Inn.

    Yes, that's the name....Nicolette Island.

If other restaurants, or districts come to mind,
feel free to let me know.

Quiet thread, not many on here from Minneapolis?

Bar La Grassa isn't too far away from you. It's an Italian place - one of my favorites.

But aren't there other well known "Districts", where it's like
    one restaurant after another?

The Warehouse district Across the river from St Anthony Main has a bunch of well-known places. The Monte Carlo Bar is a favorite, with an outside dining area and convenient valet parking next door.

Uptown, around Hennepin Avenue and Lake Street is popular as well.

I tend to pick a place as a destination based on what you want to eat rather than what places are next door.

There is a place on Lake Street called the Urban Eatery with outside seating and it is right across the street from Lake Calhoun. I go there every Saturday in the summer because it is an AMAZING place for carspotting. There are always Ferraris and Porsches and Aston Martins and R8s GT-Rs and everything there, so we might run into each other if you ever go there during the summer :D

    Thanks! Noted.

I was planning to go to those lakes, my wife has never seen them,
so I love the suggestion.....and the car alert! :)

Thanks all, I've made notes of the above!

    Cheers!
