Hey guys i live in toronto and i just bought a white 360 spider 2002 from houston texas from a dealership called global motorcars of houston i have used the transport carrier by the name of Mackie Auto transport and am wondering if anyone has used this company before they have literally tossed me around soo far and a month has gone by and they still havent picked up my car yet i paid 2k for shipping for an enclosed carrier does anyone know what the standard costs are for shipping to toronto in an enclosed carrier and also if someone can tell me if you have to pay duties at the border which i have paid through my broker ( ultimate car collection) this was my first time experience buying an exotic car from the states and am very frustrated and stressed that i still havent received my car yet and i feel as if my brokers are tossing me around please comment thanks

Sorry, don't know any answers to your questions, but I'd suggest formatting your post so someone can actually read it instead of it being one large run-on sentence. Someone might have some answers for you but aren't going to want to filter through this post.

I have shipped 2 of my cars from Costa Mesa, CA to Atlanta for $1300 in a closed in trailor.

Something doesn't sound right. I would ask for a refund and find another carrier.

    Good luck.

I too have been totally screwed over by an auto transport company, Global Atlantic Transport. It was for a cheap Honda car, but they still screwed me over.
Especially with an exotic, only trust the big names in auto transport, Horseless Carriage, Intercity Lines, etc.

The price seems about right, if not a bit low, for a car going to Canada.

However, the treatment is unacceptable. Get a refund immediately no matter what they say. Call somebody else. I would recommend Reliable Carriers or Intercity.

By the way, is your new toy a 6spd or F1?

TFX is top notch including a white glove service. They brought my Porsche from Florida to my doorstep. $1800.00 with an enclosed trailer. Everyone on the rennlist forums uses them and are highly recommended.

They took care of all the duties and taxes for me. I just cut them a cheque.

Once registering, I had to pay the second tax. This was before the HST hike.

    Great car....love white. ^^^^

I would call your credit card company (you did pay by cc correct?), cancel the payment, and find another transport. I used FedEX auto transport and they had the car to me in a week after I called from Miami to Charleston,SC. 3 days total transport time once on trailer. Gave me updated phone calls every day or so.

I'd get another transport, have them drop it off in Buffalo and then pick it up there with a Toronto flat bed.. get it over the border and you're golden.

btw, I like the White... are the front grilles supposed to be white as well?

I know nothing about transporting cars but just wanted to say how beautiful yours is! I love the white/black combo. Don't see many like that.

I have transported lots of cars from the states as I run a car dealership.
However I would never let them transport an exotic.
    I personally wouldn't trust them.
They might rev the **** out of it while it's cold, or bang it up.

That happens to alot of the cars we transport.

Like suggested earlier, go fly down and drive it back up. It would be an awesome experience and trip.

I used TFX. They were terrific, and their warehouse is in Toronto. They have a broker and will take care of duty (6.1%) and GST at the border. You pay the PST when you register it in Ontario.

I don't know what your deal is, but I assume it includes manuals, keys, fobs etc. Make sure every single "loose" item is specifically listed on the shipping manifest and absolutely make sure that the carrier refuses to accept the car if any of the items are missing. Believe me, I know what I'm talking about having recently been stung (NOT by TFX I hasten to add). The carrier will hate doing this, but you don't want to learn the hard way.

Why are your front grills white? I thought they were always black regardless of the car's colour.

Good eyes spotting that. I too would think that they should be black. Also it would look better if the grills were black IMHO. Me thinks a respray and the shop was too lazy to disassemble?

PS - even though we now have HST in Ontario you'll find that importing a car from the USA still involves the old system -- namely GST (paid at the border as it's a federal tax) and PST (paid when you register the vehicle).

What's the VIN number of your car? It's VERY VERY important that the eighth digit is an A and not a B. If it's a "B" it's a European car and you won't be able to register it in Canada. If it's an "A" it's a USA car and you won't have any problems.

I feeling the white grill in front. It's growing on me.

Congrats on your car. I think it looks great.

Cancel and get a refund. If no luck, contact an attorney or tell them your attorney will be contacting them. This is completely unacceptable.

Use Intercity Lines, first class outfit. Do NOT use DAS, they suck!
