I almost hate to ask here but is anyone watching the trail? My wife has been and she says it like a train wreck you can't look away from. I'm sure everyone in Florida knows the story of the Orlando women accused of killer her 2 y.o. daughter.

I've read enough from the trail that there is no smoking gun or cause of death or DNA linking the mother. She had something to do with the cover up but proving she did the dirty deed is another matter. I think she will walk on the murder charge, but she will be caught on the other charges.

    Thoughts?

Another mockery of the American judicial system (or
what's left of it) playing out for slackjawed info junkies'
    amusement.

Was in Orlando yesterday (Saturday) and happened past
the court house where there must be two square blocks
of parking lots filled with news vans.

My mother is obsessed with the trial. LOL!! She said this judge has sat on many murder trials with female suspects and all of them have been found guilty and sentenced to the death penalty.

The whole thing is completely ridiculous. From what I've watched, there have been so many far-fetched stories that are just unbelievable by any casual observer's standards. It's so obvious that it's a bunch of malarkey, but they just can't actually tie her to the crime. She's a cold b!tch, though, that's for sure.

IMO, this trial is going to be as big as O.J. Simpson's case.

Check out downtown Orlando at midnight. People are already lined up to get in at 9am. It's a circus.

LOL!! reminds me of the junkies who watch Survivor, Dancing With The Stars, and the other Trash TV so prevalent, as hardly no one has the motivation as an alternative to visit their local library instead and check out 2-3 books for the next 2 weeks' worth of reading.

Thought we'd park "Halfway" between the courthouse
and a Cuban restaurant on 17/92. Opted instead to go
all the way to the restaurant.

From what I've read of this "trial", both the prosecution
and defense have screwed up so many times that they're
both going to come under sanctions post-trial.

So, even if by some miracle the jury finds Anthony guilty,
there will be grounds for enough appeals to keep this farce
    going for years.

    Our tax dollars at work.

I'm not local but have been catching updates here and there from Matt Englett's radio show.
Its frustrating that there's so much circumstantial evidence and confusion in the court.

Why is this so much easier on Law & Order?

Circumstantial cases are never easy. I thought when they charged her a 2nd or 3rd degree conviction would be a whole lot easier for them.

Was following it more when it they were trying to find her daughter. How could anyone go a few weeks without reporting their kid missing? And why was duct tape found on the remains if the defense is claiming the baby drowned?

I was wondering who the father of the baby was and saw that her father, her brother and her boyfriend all failed the DNA testing. Sounds like real white trash if she was thinking - Who is my baby's daddy- My dad or my brother? For some reason I dont trust her parents either, seems like they might have some skelton's in their closets that they dont want coming out. Why were they so mad when the press used to stay outside of their house? You would thnk they would want the media attention to help find their grandaughter and prove their daughter was innocent. When they started getting all defensive, I got the feeling that something wasnt right.

You'd be surprised at how many dysfunctional families like this are actually out there.

So they claim she fell in the pool and drown. It happens everyday it seems in Florida. Why wait a month to tell the grandparents? Why bury the body down the street?

But the grandfather was a former cop, if he had something to do with it you would think he would know how to get rid of the body so it could never be found.

BTW- I thought I had read that she doesn't know who the father is. She had several donors and it has not be determined.

watching when I can - occasionally commenting.

the trial is a bit of a train wreck, mostly Baez but a few errors by the prosecution as well.

personally, I think Baez blew it with his opening. NEVER make a jury promises you can not keep.

Not sure that they will get the death penalty, but pretty confident she is spending a long while in prison.

Ha. Same here. I don't try to watch it, but if it's on, I can't look away. It's all just so incredibly ridiculous.

I had some wet paint I was watching dry rather than watching the "trial" (AKA circus)... It's pathetic and sad that at the root of all this idiocy a little girl who did nothing wrong to anyone died a pretty brutal death.

Well.... back to my paint :)

I have avoided watching or reading much about it...it's just too sad. But I've been wondering about one thing: Has the baby's father been mentioned at all, either in court or by the media? I'm not asking because there might be a connection between him and the crime, but simply because he is the father, and fathers seem to be left out of these matters unless they played a direct role.

edit: Sorry, Paul, I hadn't seen your post 16.

I stopped in for a pizza yesterday and they had the trial on, so I watched while waiting for my pie. Talk about dull. One of the defense lawyers asked a question that must have taken 5 min or more to ask, I told the person watching with me, the person on the stand should have asked the lawyer to repeat the question.

Bloody boring stuff, if you ask me: I have been watching it in bits and pieces at the airports or at the car rental places while waiting and I just do not have the patience for that kind of stuff anymore.
Is lynching still an acceptable practice in the US?
