It was on pole, though - n'est pas?

Very nice pics as always (and as noted already above.

I think the GT3 is even nicer looking than the GT2 version on the 458. Would make a nice hotted-up street car!

Right, they qualified in first place. Audi, Porsche and Mercedes already won a race and Ferrari's turn shall come soon, I hope. Concurrence is tough.

I agree that the GT3 is perfectly balanced and more beautiful than the GT2 but I have still to see the latter.

In Le Mans configuration (ex-GT2, now GTE), the Ferrari 458 is reputedly SLOWER than a good old 430!
Michelotto is still working at it, apparrently, but the aerodynamics seem to be inferior!
I have seen that in the Open GT Championship in Europe, the 458 cannot shake a well-driven 430!

Well, the 458 GTE took the pole position at the Nurburing 24 hours, in front of the BMW M3 GT2.

It was allowed to keep that posistion but was futher restricted for the race.

It's rear suspention broke costing them 55 minutes in the Pit.

IMO it still need a lot of work.

I don't know if there are many tracks harder for the suspension than the Nordschleife. It is indeed a great achievement to finish it for a car so young, and that says a lot about the P4/5 incredible result too.

It won the 1000 KM at Spa and came in second after some troubles at Le Mans. The car will do just fine but of course it is at the beginning of it's development cycle.

Agree. They were 1, 2, 3, 4 at first Le Mans Series race this year at Le Castellet and "won" the Energy Efficiency Index for GTE Pro class at Le Mans - not bad at all.

    Plus the car looks great!

    458 GTE lacks HP
BMW more HP with same air restrictor.
I think that will be solved in a matter of time. They need about 20-30 HP.

Other option: ALL GTE / GT2 car without restrictor :)

the BMW has a +1.2mm restrictor break becouse of the Balance of Performance, also the BMW has a 4l engine and the 458 a 4.5l engine
Ferraris restrictor is 28.3mm as the rules state, the BMWs restrictor is 28.6 as per rules + 1.2mm break.
so its 28.3 vs 29.8 not really the same.

you couldnt have a open restrictor rule set in GTE/GT2 competiton because of so many different engine displacements. the larger engines would have too much of an addvantige, even with the restrictos larger engine have a slight torque addvantige as proven by Corvette at Le Mans.

the 458 laks hp only because of the BoP, if the rules were folowed to the letter they would be right on the money. you should have herd how porsche drivers and team owners were fuming about BoP at Le Mans.

I know the thread says GT3, but since we're discussing the GT2...
