Hello Everyone, Now that it is officially Summer, I wanted to welcome everyone back to sports car driving season (at least here in the North East). The 360/430 forum in particular has been a great source of knowledge for myself and has introduced me to new customers. For those of you who are not familiar with Fabspeed, we are a U.S.A. manufacturer of performance upgrades (intake and exhaust) for Ferrari and a few other select exotic performance cars. Fabspeed was the 1st company in the world were to design, engineer and dyno develop and manufacture a super high performance replacement header for the F430. This was done purely for performance and sound improvements back in 2004. So for the last 7 years Fabspeed high performance headers have become a preventative solution to the often failing factory headers while adding significant power and sports car sound. I would like to offer our ultra quality hand tig welded gas purged F430 headers to you at a Ferrari Chat Tifosi price. They are in stock and can ship quickly. Please see the details below: -Dyno proven power increase (graph below): 23 hp and 48 ft/lb @ 3800 RPM 27 hp and 17 ft/lb @ 7500 RPM -Fabspeed sport headers save 10.6lbs/4.8kg over the stock manifolds -T304L stainless steel headers direct replacement for factory failure prone headers -No pre-cat in the collector -F1 Indy car style high velocity merge collectors for maximum flow and scavenging -1 piece C.N.C. mandrel bent primary tubes that wont leak or fail (pics of our bender are also below) - Fabspeed was first to develop headers for the 430 Scuderia as well. Excellent point. That's why I don't plan to mess with them. Not with TX heat. Capristo brackets should eliminate any issues. They look well made, but any Ferrari headers should include full insulation IMO.
Before you make a decision on the usefulness of Header wraps, blankets, insulation ... you should read the 5/8/11 posts of Vincenzo, Sparetireless, Ferrari-tech and driftracer3 in the "Fabspeed Headers & Sport-Cats on my 360". They are some of the most objective and intelligent comments on the subject! Don't drink the Kool-Aid, do some independent research and come to your own conclusion!
My two cents.... Fabspeed headers and sport cats have been the best investment ever made great craftsmanship .... Mine sounds like an F1 (the way F cars should sound)
I have done that. Used my brain and sense. Of course I want it insulated if the OEM part was. Why not? As much as possible! It won´t hurt you. I wouldn´t trust a salesman sayning "Not needed " as an answere to a question about insulation. He just wants to sell and he will not be beside you if your car catch fire. I think the best way - if someone have trouble to make a decition of what to buy - is to go and ask your Insurance Company. "What will happen if my car will be on fire because I have rebuild it with less heatinsulation than it was built from Ferrari?" or "What will happen if someone gets really hurt or burned becauce of this?" And correct me if I am wrong - I think that you have a law for Product Responsibility in US? That is - if you manufacture and sell something that can injure people due to its design - then you are in real troubble. End of thread for me. Be happy and buy whatever you like. //Anders
As much as I try to appreciate all posts on this forum, your input doesn't include any valid information. I certainly understand your concern, but you are basically stating that our products are dangerous to yourself and your car. We sell about 25-35 sets of these headers per year and we have never been notified of a heat related issue. These headers are on street cars, race cars, daily drivers, and cars that are rarely driven. We have customers in Arizona, Texas, Dubai, and many other very hot places. We offer ceramic coating to customers that want it, but it is not mandatory. I currently have a customer who is having a pair of blanket-type heatshields custom made for these headers at a fraction of the cost of the Capristo wraps. I will post the information after I see the quality and fitment. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind constructive criticism, but this seems excessive. If you had a heat related issue with these headers, please let me (or the whole forum know). If you are enjoying our products, please do the same. If you are going to make statements that seem to be intended to scare people into not buying a particular product without any data to back it up, please keep your comments to yourself. Anders seems to be well informed in other posts, but I am glad he has stated that he will not be posting in this thread again. Please PM or email me if you have any questions. Thanks! Jeff [email protected]
We will take some pictures of Dipesh carring out the installation of the headers and heat shields and post them for reference Jeff. We think we will also need a set for the cats too, so we might need to let Paul in CA know about it.
Hi Harry, That sounds good. His website shows custom heatshields for Turbos, so a cat should be no problem. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks! Jeff
This is Joe Fabiani at Fabspeed Motorsports USA. Fabspeed designed, Dyno developed and fully tested our Ferrari 430 race quality headers back in 2004/2005 so now Fabspeed Motorsport has over 6 years of continual experience with the Ferrari 430. Over 6 years Fabspeed has proven that our F430 headers to be bullet proof, durable and 100% have no heat issues under any and all conditions. From extremely hot all our racing competition in Arizona, Dubai, Australia. Futhermore, I have personally inspected Ferrari F360 and F430 factory race cars from the RISI Competizionin 430 ALMS car and the headers on the car are enormous look like 2" 50mm primary pipes (a proverbial bundle of snakes) and the tubes are much closer to engine components and engine bay covers and the Ferrari techinitian a PRI (Performance Racing Industry trade-only show) stated there are no issues whatsoever with heat. Bottom-line you do need to waste $2000 for heat wrapping and heat shields. If you want extra protection for $300 you can get any V8 headers cermaic 2000degree coated and accomplish the same objective. QED~ Fabspeed Ferrari, BMW, and Porsche headers feature Formula 1 high velocity merge collectors, equal length tubing, CNC mandrel bending, hand TIG purge welded construction, and a labor of love from craftsmen at my company. We continually improve quality and test and retest to find additional power and sportscar sound on all these cars. Fabspeed Motorsports owns and operates the very finest equipment and we do everything in house and publish DYNO results with NO correction factors. It is odd that no other aftermarket companys never ever show their equipment, mandrel bending machines and facilities as much as Fabspeed does. Fabspeed Motorsport is an active supporter of many automotive enthusiasts forums that we all love too. Feel free to stop by our shop and facility when you are in town and see our craftsmen at work building super quality headers, sports racing catalytic converters and other parts for these wonderful cars. Have a great 4th of July.
I've got a set of these Fabspeed headers on my 430 and I've got to say, permanant engine light on aside, they are tremendous. The noise is absolutely awesome and where I used to get constant "that car looks fantastic" comments in traffic, I now get "that car sounds absolutely astonishing" comments instead! It's addictive and I'm so glad I had them fitted now they're run in. Aaron
Guys, are these headers ok in California? Regarding Emissions, they look terrific and I am sure they sound even better?
Permanent CEL is an issue as if there is another problem, you won't know about it until its maybe too late, Sfefvan, any Capristo Header CELS, mine go on tomorrow and the noise is what I'm looking for ever since I had to endure the OEM Mk2 header replacement
No CEL's at all Richard with the Capristo Headers and after +/- 1500km driving I'm not ready to sacrify my car just for a better sound . An exhaust should never give a CEL, never! And believe me that I checked this very carefuly with Capristo
Hi Aaron Permanent CEL??? Have you tried to do an ECU reset after installing the headers? Or perhaps the lambda sensor is damaged!
Hi Aaron, Thank you for your feedback. I am glad you love your headers. However, I am surprised that you have a CEL caused by the headers. Do you have any other modifications? Jeff [email protected]
Fabspeed headers for the F430 or any aftermarket 430 headers should NOT cause a CEL light by themselves. There must be something else wrong with the car. Fabspeed F430 headers elimintaed the pre-cat that Ferrari wedges into the 4 into 1 collector .........our race header that came out over 6 years ago eliminates the problem and significantly adds both torque and horsepower. Fabspeed is a world wide specialist in both header and exhaust design and has over 120 years of combined experience with our staff. Fabspeed headers have been on serious race tracks and regular street cars across the world. Fabspeed headers offer a dramatic increase in sports car sound and power. Feel free to stop by our shop and factory and see all the parts in production.
im thinking about doing this install soon- i called this shop grand auto works to get it installed for me in orance county...they said no issues with CEL but now im reading this, im getting worried
All I can add is that I installed the Fabspeed headers on my 2006 F430 Spider and had NO CELs. I have put a few hundred miles on it since the install, all is well. On the F430 I dont see how there would be CELs because the pre-cat is removed but there is no O2 sensor before the pre-cat, so how would it know the precat was removed? I dont know. Maybe I am just lucky, that has been the trend... ...apart from the near catastrophic OEM header failure FYI; I do have a DIY on the Fabspeed header install somewhere on FChat.
Thanks Trent. Assuming you have the stock cats installed on your car, you should not get a CEL. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks. Jeff
