Aligned the car myself to what I think is factory specs from the manual. Drives great!

    Factory specs:
    camber
    front - 20" to -40"
    rear - 1'20" to - 1'40"

    toe
    front .06 to .1 inches
    rear .14 to .18 inches

    caster 4 positive degrees

    My car now:
    CAMBER
    FR: .8',
    FL: .6',
    RR: 1.4',
    RL: 1.4',
    caster, 3.8 deg,
    front toe: .09'
    rear toe: .15'
    rear thrust = .07 deg

I know, I know...a laser/ digital million dollar alignment machine is better. I've used these tools a few times to 'fix' my other cars after letting one of those machines align it. If I didn't move every 2 years maybe I could find a reputable alignment shop.

The play in the steering bothers me now that everything else is so tight. Removed it today and sent off to get rebuilt.

I forgot to take a pic of the rack, it looked ok except the oil covering it. I guess it's full of oil when new; I think all of mine had leaked out.

JH355 is rebuilding it for me, should have it back in a couple weeks. Thanks John!

Used this youtube video for rack removal how to:

Got the rack in the mail yesterday afternoon and installed it this morning.

I really can't believe what a difference it made. All the play in the steering was in the rack. And, now that I feel the change, there was quite a bit. I sort of feel bad that I'd been driving the car like that for 2 years.

John is great! one of the few suppliers that does what he said, in the time he promised, for the price he quoted. Thanks! I wouldn't even consider using anyone else, I totally recommend him for rack rebuilds.

There is a two sided 3M Emblem Adhesive that comes in sheets...

    Not sure what he used.

Some of them have mounting studs...

I agree with you Jason, he also did a great job rebuilding my steering rack a week ago. Unfortunately, I havent been able to drive the car yet, however, I am looking forward to it.

Bought a foam kit from T Rutlands, put DAP Weldwood contact cement on both surfaces, trimmed a little, and stuck it on.

It's hard to tell--seems to run a little cooler and keep some heat out of the cabin, but maybe it's in my head. It's been going fine for at least 2 years without this foam living in Vegas where it's 110 in the summer so I'm not sure how much it's really needed.

Anyway, it came out really nice, better than I imagined and pretty easy to install. Probably 30 minutes start to finish.

sort of sad, but I'm finally good with this....I put my car on Ferrariads today. It's been a ton of fun, but I just never use it since the baby. I've probably driven 100 miles in the last 7 months. Just found out I'm moving soon and getting a new job, seems like it's just time to sell.

I'd like to get something the whole family can ride in so I could at least get some use out of it. I spend way too much time away from home to go off on my own and drive during my free time.

    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/vbclassified.php?do=ad&id=8156

I have thousands of pics if you want one of something specific or I'd be happy to take photos of whatever you're curious about.

Priced it at $32K. I know that's relatively high for the mileage, but I think anyone that actually sees it will buy it. I can't imagine someone wanting a 308, looking at this one, and then thinking there could be one better. I'm in no rush, if it takes a year to sell, that's ok.

Wow. I've followed your thread from day 1, so needless to say someone is going to get an awesome GTB. I have to give you credit though for doing the right thing. Family first.

    Sounds like a Mondial. ;)

Good luck selling your car, but it seems you have at least one error in your add. You list 47 cars that you refer to as the only US GTB QVs. As the original owner of an 85 GTB QV with serial number not listed in your add I can assure you there are at least 48 US GTB QVs, likely more, assuming the 47 you list are correct. 748 GTB QVs were produced and of them 674 were left hand drive. I would be interested in your source for the small number of US cars out of the 674 produced with LHD.

And I have to say that I am a little put off by the statement,
My car has a little over 29k on it and that is real mileage.

I appreciate your being honest about your car. Certainly you have documented all the work you have done on it here. That is a big plus, IMO. But you are implying that many Ferrari owners are not. Kartinhg, F1 Rookie, Formula 3, etc has little to do with anything.

Still, do you have a reference for your source of US QV B's? I'd seriously like to know.

Sorry to disagree with you as well, Viper. You base your "opinion" of only 47 US version GTB QVs on an incomplete list of currently known US GTB QVs. That's not the way to represent production numbers.

There were 748 GTB QVs produced. Ferrari factory production figures list one third of these as European versions vs. two thirds of them U.S. versions.

Clearly, the 308 GTB QV is very rare. The European version is the rarest of these, and the image basis for the 288 GTO.

OK, I stand corrected. I got this list from a historian/ expert on another site. Certainly didn't make it up or somehow source it myself.

I have one. An 84'... and on top of that, it's a French spec car. Can't be more than a handful. I too wish we could do a roll call on Euro GTB QV's.

    Good luck with your sale.
I hear ya about kids and car time...
Since I had my son, 2.5 years ago (and another dtr last Feb), I've only driven my car 1,500 miles. I can't even get the time to break the rebuilt motor in.
I spend my time cosmetically restoring it late at night, but I have fun with it.

Here is a link to the page where I presume Jason found "the list",

    http://mcmurdycom.cv.siteprotect.net/Clyde/Yahoo/index.htm

I would say it is misleading and obviously in error as I found 4 other US cars (mine included) not on it. So the actual number could be some where between 51 but less than 674.

Too many "experts" on the net to believe much of what you find.
