I'm actually going this year! We ordered advance tickets for Friday--half the cost buying them ahead of time! REALLY looking forward to it. I'm interested in seeing how my son likes it with so much up-close access to the cars. I haven't been to any races at all since the demise of the USGP, so needless to say I'm pretty excited. Anyone else heading up?

I've always wanted to go to this event....never made it when I lived in STL, now it's a bit of a commute :(

have fun, take lots of pics so I can live vicariously through you! :D

btw you have Chicagoland Speedway, Elkhart Lake, Blackhawk Farms, Milwaukee Mile and Autobahn within a few hours and you haven't been to a race for a while? for shame ;)

It is a great race. Move frequently and see the track from all corners.
If its like years past. DRINK LOTS OF WATER!!!! Beer is not water.
90+ deg, 90% humility. People literately have died at the track due to heat.
The race is awesome. Take lots of pictures, you will see many historical cars, not old cars but historical cars.
The concourse(sp?) in town is a must see also.
Oh yea, get a hotel room soon, also. There are not a surplus of hotels.

You are going to love it!

Thanks for the tips Doug. I've been there before, it's just been a few years (shut up Chas;)). We're about 2 hours away, so we'll just do the up and back. I have a beach tent for my wife to hunker down with the kids as needed and an empty memory card in the camera! Used to know a guy when I lived in the city who drives with the reborn Toad Hall group--owns a fancy little fleet of cars. I'll have to find him and remind him that we know each other:D
