Not so sure on this one Lane, I'm going to have the duc back and finally be able to ride this season..... so I have a feeling that if all goes well, I'll be watching my odometer and doing some 'corner work' of my own. If we don't see you guys - catch you on a Sunday morning.
Here are some more pictures from Sunday. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
We're gonna have to meet up so I can collect my ...eh hem...canopy. (or was it impounded?) In the words of Rodney, call me when you have no class.
Still riding the high from the weekend. My buddy Eric really enjoyed his visit. The drive to Lime Rock on those recently paved back roads was superb. We missed Lane, however. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Drove the Ferrari to Lime Rock on Saturday, to Gbury on Sunday and to Mark's on Monday. I drove so much my right ankle is sore from heal and toeing. That's a great weekend!
Wooops ......... I was under the impression that I had the lifetime membership. I do miss all of you guys. I had great plans for driving the Fcars this year. Had fluids changed and overall check up completed on both cars. The 550 got a brand spanking new starter motor (thanks Ricambi). The old starter fried itself the very first time that Sandy decided to take the 550 for a drive. Bad timing on that event. Hopefully the mrs will forgive and give the 550 another try. I planned to do a lot of car events this summer. Then came the June 1st tornado. And life has not been the same the last six weeks. Sandy and I added our names to the long list of volunteers. We were directed to the remnants of a property in town. We have spent at least one day every weekend helping with moving personal belongs, clearing vegetative debris and building fences/shelters for critters. There is no end in sight to the recovery work. Here are three pics just to give you an idea. The photos really don't do justice to the situation here. You really have to see it to believe it. When I have some time I'll try to post more details in the "tornado" thread so I don't hijack this one. Photo One - our friend Doug's house (large white at three o'clock position no tarp on roof and no more neighbors) Photo Two - friend's former neighbor. The neighbor is elderly and will not be rebuilding Photo Three - a family of three was in this basement when the storm hit. Survived and are very thankful. Not even a single 2 x 6 from their former house has been found. I have been driving the 550 to work and back every day. Haven't driven the 355 once yet this year. Maybe I can talk Sean or Mike into exercising the 355. Don't know if I'll be able to get to GBury this summer. But I've been lurking on FChat and enjoying vicariously. Best to you all - Ed - Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I knew it was bad up there but those picture really bring it home. Can the Gatherers be of any assistance to you personally or to your cause? I'm happy to help set up anything from a work party to a Ferrari Meet and greet. Maybe a "forget your troubles jaunt" to some soul that perhaps needs an escape from it all for a few minutes. Can this years AVFPolo banquet be converted to a fundraiser of some type? Edit: Lil Bastage and his GF just saw those pics and are ready and willing to source a few young muscles. Let me know whats needed.
Ed- that is simply amazing.. We live so close, but it feels so far away when I see that. I did not know it was that bad up in your area. That is just incredible. Let me know- if you need help- wedding/honeymoon over + no work means plenty of free time...I'm available
SaintB and Market Mover, You guys are right on the mark. Exotic Car Show - I have begun looking into the details of hosting an exotic car show in the center of Brimfield. Several interesting possibilies there. Objectives 1. Raise much needed funds for families directly affected by the tornado 2. Provide a "forget your troubles" event for residents and perhaps even provide some rides 3. Raise awareness of the residents' needs by providing access to this event for the general public I'm not good at asking for, nor accepting, help but in this case I have to make an exception. There is just too much work to be done to aid the recovery effort. Young Muscle - there is currently a need for young muscle every day of the week. The recovery effort is estimated to take 18-24 months. Recovery groups are being organized. Property owners can submit a wish list of projects to these groups. Volunteers are signing up with the same recovery groups. The groups will then match task with available resources. Following are couple of GREAT groups: http://rrrtornado2011.webs.com/ http://www.facebook.com/?ref=logo#!/groups/236935283003198 OR PM me and I'll set you up with a family that needs help. I'll try to make some time this weekend to post on the tornado thread in this section of FChat so that this thread won't get highjacked. Thanks for your offers of assistance. I will be taking you up on them !!! - Ed -
I just saw the pictures and associated dialogue. I had no idea of the magnitude of damage. This must be dreadful for those who are having to deal with it. Count me in on whatever effort we muster. Maybe the calendar on the rrrtornado2011 site could offer some guidance; i.e. combine a car activity with the food drive campaign. I'm ready to help in the physical effort dept. as well.
OK...What did I miss? Quiet morning in GBury, only 5 Ferrari's. I assume there was something worthwhile that my radar totally missed?
My youngest had her Baptism today. I've had my church fill for a few months. I may put some wax on the Dub, but I lack motivation. Couch is looking good.
"OK...What did I miss? Quiet morning in GBury, only 5 Ferrari's. I assume there was something worthwhile that my radar totally missed? " I've been too neglectful of the sitework for my new barn. Decided that I would stay home and try to get some of this done, as I've been playing Ferrari driver when I'm supposed to be cutting down trees and spreading gravel around. Definitely there next weekend...
If any CT gatherers are heading down to New Jersey this weekend for Grand Am let me know if you interested in some Crew passes, As a support race participant I get 4 crew passes including parking passes. email me directly [email protected]
I'm in the market for a nice cape and top hat for my friend Rocco the amazing. Perhaps the next thing he should try is sawing a woman in half.
Looks like I get to visit GBury in the morning. Wedding isn't til afternoon. I get to play until 11:30. See yaz!
I'm out this week. The Testarossa is getting delivered tomorrow afternoon and I need to make sure I'm in the area. I do, however, have every intention of being there next weekend. That is, assuming this nice weather holds.
