Yes, there were many retirements in that race, but not to take away the fact he got 5th. Daniel did well, he was happy, the team was happy, and that's all that counts. I'd much rather be out there coming last than not being there at all. He's out there living the dream as he said. Good on him and I reckon give it a few years and he'll be at the front of the field. Probably a god send being out of the lime light and just learning. Many of the guys started their career at the back.
I thought it was actually quite funny how gigantic his grin was after the race, and how steadfastly he stuck with it, somehow even whilst having a conversation with Lee McKenzie
Yep, I reckon in some ways NOT blitzing things on your first outing may be helpful in the long run... just quietly build up without TOO much hype. I can't help wondering if trying to live up to the early expectations is what has cruelled Webber, to some degree.
If anyone here has influence with the TV journos, can they please get them to pronounce Daniel's surname properly; they make him sound like a Mexican.
