I have put my interest down...but must see it.
Understand that the engine is detuned a little.

Don't know much about maintenance between the 2, but personally like soft tops. More soul.

Yeah you will be using their Lotuses to learn...this is for the 30th.

On the 29th, there is a Lambo/Lotus track day where you will use your own car.

The cost for the 30th is $1020 i believe where they will rent you the Lotus Elise to learn all the little stunts you are going to learn there with instructors etc....

Toto - my Esprit just had bits coming in again as part of its restoration...so its back in the shop. Not sure if it will be ready by the track day to drive it up. Nonetheless, I will still go up to Kaypoh.....and then attend the training on 30th.

also heard roof partially obscures the engine when down

    or leaking!!!

    who?

really???? wow the drop top SL63 must have grown on you

really???? ... why would they do that? it's the first time they've given different engine specs to coupe v spider. seems a little stupid .. but I guess it is all because of that bloody Cali!

me to .. except the leaks

Now that is what I call doing this car justice!

Sounds like a good idea. The interior does look a little dull and could use a dash of colour. But keep the exterior stock though, it's absolutely pristine!

    Same here in Europe..sun's blazing..

Yeah even if was tuned, shouldn't it be up instead of down to compensate for the (presumably) additional weight.

Like how they shoehorned the GTO's engine into the SA Aperta. Speaking of which, any coming to our shores?

Wow this comes as quite a surprise. Thought they would stick to the traditional soft top for weight saving and performance reasons.

But being Ferarri, I guess they probably found a way to improve the Cali's roof mechanism and apply to the 458 without any weight penalties.

Hmmm, that's a thought. I absolutely disgust it when a cat takes your softop as it's bed, they'll scratch, pee & do everything else on it

Wonder how much weight does the hardtop adds on the 458 & how it folds to the rear without obscuring the lovely engine bay.

I've never had a pus sy make a home on my roof so I can't comment on that ... but I hear the roof will take 14 seconds to recline, and WILL slightly obscure the engine when reclined.

Jon, depends on the type of pu*sy on my roof :D. I would not complain if it is the right type! Heard the 458's roof will fold in an amazing 14 secs with the buttress roots behind the driver maybe looking somewhat like the 599 SA? Would be nice but maybe a bit targa looking rather than spider? Will have to see.

Given the hardtop, probably the public can't quite tell between a coupe & spider unless you're a few feet away from the car.

Heard whether top up or down, the 458 Spyder will make the same sound volume n tone to the driver. Not sure how this can be done but was quoted as an highlight. ;-)
