can everyone recap what fluids they are using.... 575 motor: tranny: brake: just want to make sure i'm using the "best" stuff available.... thx
Henry- Valvoline full synthetic 5W-40, transaxle Valvoline full synthetic 75W-90, ATE Blue brake fluid (previously Castrol LMA, which bubbled), Valvoline Dexron VI in power steering, Zerex G-05 coolant. Taz Terry Phillips
550M/575MM/456MGT/F430 all 3 pedals stick 6 speed: Motor Oil: Shell Ultra Racing 10W60 same as what dealer use for ENZO/599... Trans: Shell Transaxle 75/90W Brake: Shell Donax U/B DOT4 All work excellent for me... Alex Lin
Ferrari listed 0W-40 synthetic as an alternative to 5W-40 in the 575M OM, as well as 10W-60 for hot climates and racing applications. Taz Terry Phillips
I would seem from many independent sources that Mobil 1 is the only "true" Group 4 synthetic oil. Bradan seems to know what is he doing and I think I noticed Mobil 1 being put in. 5W-40/50 or 0W-40 is the best for 'road' use.
If you use Mobil 1, go for their European Formula or whatever they are calling it this week. That is what Porsche and Mercedes use. Taz Terry Phillips
Alex- The only time LA counts as a hot climate is when the Santa Anas are blowing. They were talking about Kuwait, Equatorial Africa, Central America, the Gobi Desert, etc. All 10W-60 does in LA is cost you gas mileage. If you were running a 24 hour race, 10W-60 might be justified, but 5W-40 is the heaviest oil you need. Taz Terry Phillips
My guys keep in my 575 F1: Motul 5w40 x-ess redline with mgc gear oil additive donax atf motul brake dot 5.1 Mercedes coolant w/ redline water wetter These guys are the best in the mid atlantic and run sponsored cars around the country. I also keep motul in my porsche, as I used to run mobil 1, but switched upon recommendation.
Fou my friend that sounds like the Competizione formula! Although in the past they used Motul RBF600 in my old 360...not the same with your 575? Regards, Pete
What?, Pete, did you already sell? you said "old". My car was just up there not long ago. maybe they change the cocktail for V12s. you driving the boy racer, you need a 12, when are we going to meet? By the way, Pete, I think you and I, and anyone in the Mid Atlantic DC, Virginia, Maryland area would agree that if there was ever a gospel, it was written by the guys at Compietizione. Those dudes, know their shi!t. They are also sponsors here if you did not know
Hey Fou, I did sell my 360 to a fellow F-chatter about a year ago. I've been through a lot of cars since then but am in the process of acquiring a 550 Maranello. I just couldn't stay away. I missed talking to Fernando and Richard also! :-D Looking forward to some cars and coffee in Richmond this fall! Hope to see you there! Regards, Pete
Hello Taz... Nice to know... My 550M and 456MGT the 12 Cylinders have being running with 10W60 since I bought the cars... The 550M I took to the track often, so I stick with the 10W60... The 456MGT which I use only family street driving... 10W60 might be too thick and heavy... Regarding the 456MGT, I am thiniking of switch to AGIP SINT 2000 like what my Maserati uses... I thought about that... The F430 since new 2005 till warranty expired 2008 was using all as dealers requested the Shell Helix 5W40... After warranty expired, and the dealers switched from Shell to Q-State... Than I switched from Shell Helix 5W40 to Shell Ultra Racing 10W60 for about two years now... The F430 I do occassionally track driving and a bit more aggressive street driving sometimes... I will probly stick to the 10W60 Shell Ultra Racing... The 550M and 575MM in Taiwan where climate is often hot trapical and humid, and seems most of the F-Cars here in Taiwan runs 10W60 Shell Ultra Racing... So I go with it... I did also tried another Italian oil SELENIA SPORT 10W60 works really excellent as well... Alex Lin Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Alex- I thought you were talking about LA. 10W-60 in Thailand should work fine. When was the last time it snowed there? Taz Terry Phillips
Hello Taz... My 550M Titanium, 456MGT Blue, and Yellow F430 are in LA California... My both Rosso 550M and 575MM are in Taiwan which is similar weather condition as in Thailand... Alex Lin
Alex- Whoops, big difference between Thailand and Taiwan. Crud, I cannot even afford the one Ferrari I have, much less five. Taz Terry Phillips
Just got my 550 back, and the dealer put in: Shell Helix Racing 10W-60 Shell Donax-UB Brake Shell 75W-90 Transaxle Hong Kong summers are tough on cars, 90 degrees F and humidity to match. Even worse if the sun is beating down while you're stuck in traffic. Winters are nice though, usually no colder than 50 degrees F.
Ha... The 5 F-Cars do keep me pretty busy though... I keep one major service per car per year, so when each timing belt service arrives in a 5 years cycle (Minus the F430 which is chain drive), and do keep up one oil and trans oil change for all cars at least once a year... So far so good... Alex Lin
