    Dear Lamborghinisti,

quite a long time ago a German friend of mine sent me the under attached picture showing a glancing Miura SV.The caption behind indicates (translated from German):Italy Autumn 1976-Miura s/n 4806-"my baby car almost ready after six month of wait"
As I red your chat about that very car, I thought that picture might be of interest for you.By the way, could anyone help with describing the "amateur" workshop in which the car was modified and perhaps put a name on the smiling faces involved in that old happening?

The guy on the right is Valentino Balboni. There's the nose of a Silhouette outside the building, and the location looks similar to the Lamborghini backyard, so my guess is that the photo is taken at the factory.

Thanks for posting. No knock off spinners on those 9" front rims on the car in this pic and a standard bonnet grille. A different colour red with red sills too. It's good to see the cars at differing points in their lives.

Could this be 4806 in one of its different guises?

I did ask one of the guards but the car was locked and they had no access to the keys.

The red LP400 was #1120058 but I haven’t seen it in the museum. The orange Diablo GT is probably the one from the factory museum in Santa Agatha.

Thinking about it this is very wise bearing in mind these cars are on display to the general public. Unlocked, people will want to sit in the cars and some have no respect. I have sold these kind of cars and it beggars belief how some people, if allowed, actually let their small children get in and jump all over the seats in their shoes and watch them doing it thinking how cute they are.

Precisely why I took the cushy seats out of my Manx dunebuggy and put in fiberglass buckets. I was sick of returning to the car to find tiny footprints in the seats... found two teenage girls sitting in it one time.

I can tell a story of a Miura at a show in California. A rather large woman placed her derriere upon the front hood to have her husband take picture. When the owner politely asked if she would please not do that (thin aluminum etc), the lady expressed her indignation and stated to the car's owner that she had paid for a ticket to come into the show just like everyone else and she should be able to take pictures with any car, or what was the point. She missed the point of a dented hood (which somehow thankfully did not happen!). I know this sounds far-fetched, but it happened!

Ha ha. The softness of her derriere spread over a wide area probably protected the bonnet. A slim woman with a bony derriere would have probably made 2 dents.

    Miura SV Owners;

I have 2 sets of absolutely pristine 1971 New Old Stock Pirelli Cintauro HS CN 12 Tubeless 225/60 VR Tires. These are rear tire sets. I have one set this is pristine and then I have one set that is still in the original factory bands, has factory tread stickers, shipping stickers and original invoice on the tires from 1971.

Both sets are spares from Nunzios Miura that sold this past March at Amelia.

If anyone is interested, please send me a PM or email to [email protected]

I also have a spare pristine pouch (as new) set, owners manaual and dealer directory.

    Thanks in advance

    Cody

Just a typo I'm sure but do you mean 255/60 VR tyres?

I thought the GT40 was the original supercar?

The GT40 was so named because: a) it was a GT race car; and b) its overall height was only 40 inches (note: actually 40.5 in) from ground to roof. It was the world's earliest mid-engined supercar and provided inspiration for the forthcoming Lamborghini Miura.

You said it yourself. The GT 40 was primarily a race car.

I meant you said the above.

The GT40 was more race car than a road car.

Which makes it's claim to being the "original" supercar even that much more valid right?

No doubt that the original GT40 was a supercar, but I think in this context, the GT40 started first as a racecar, while the Miura was primarily a street car without racing aspirations.

That is absolutely correct- it was a typo. Thanks for correcting my mistake, I appreciate it!

    Tires are indeed 255/60 VR

Steve: this pic illustrates the SV's "shoulders" we had recently spoken about.

This is a car I spotted at Sant Agata in 1995. My notes:

"Seen at Automobili Lamborghini SpA, autumn, 1995, factory visit. Metallic black paint, gold wheels (including 3-eared spinners) & sills. Paintwork appears fresh, factory repainted? My original factory production register from 1974 states: 'Oro met. (gold)/nero (black), 9.7.71, Mark 3 (Italian concessionaire)'. Interior shows black leather/vinyl combination with khaki-brown velour inserts, grey carpets, correct switchgear and trim, all original and in flawless condition. Radio/cassette, center-console ignition key, original shift knob, original (unrestored) steering wheel, all well-preserved. Italian registered, presumably in Milan, MI.91884A, black plates, front plate covers significant part of radiator inlet grille, obviously restricting all-important airflow. 'In Roddaggio' sticker still in passenger side top corner of windscreen, automatic radio aerial (not standard roof-mounted fixed unit) in driver side rear fender. Single mirror mounted on driver's door. Rear panel badges in silver paint (not gold as per wheels/sills), all-white front turnlight lenses (Italian-spec). Carello headlights and Altissimo tailights in perfect condition. Chrome brightwork original but well-preserved, a few scratches on windscreen surround. Pirelli P7 rear tires 'as new' (factory-supplied?), Pirelli CN12 front tires, used. Engine no.30654, twin distributor (no A/C) with fibreglass cap still in place, cam-covers in standard silver, airbox-tops refinished in plain white (minus original Fiamm silk-screened logos).

A gorgeous Miura SV, recommissioned (repaint and mechanicals), with a fabulous original interior".
