So do I. Dan told me that VMAX was limited because he had to land the front wheels before he could begin braking so he ran out of straight before he ran out of revs.
Truly amazing. I wonder what drivers would do now if such things occurred way off topic, but does your MKIV have Kinsler injection?
A 455 cid is NOT!!!! a "small block"...I would have thought you would have know that, since as you claimed...."you've been around"......Mark There are many different pontiac engines, most notably the V8 small block versions like 301 and 350 cubic inch and the big block V8 pontiac motors such as the 400, 428 and 455 ci. While these engine versions are very popular, they also have many performance parts available for them which makes them easy to modify and get big horsepower gains.
Some say "potatoe"....some say "potato".....just like is a Testarossa motor a "flat 12" or "V12".....here's another link that claims "Big Block"......Mark http://eddiesvalvegrinding.com/pontiac-performance-engine.htm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevrolet_Big-Block_engine
Big block and small block Chevy? Yes. Pontiac? Eventually there will be someone younger who wasn't there who'll know more, but until then ... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zOPRXFEGO5E&feature[/ame]
If you install a big gaudy wing on your GT, you don't deserve to possess such a car. The same goes for a Ferrari. The first riced out GT I see I'm going to throw up. Clearly, money even if most likely inherited... doesn't buy taste.
Yeah, these guys are obviously ricer wankers LOL Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Those are race cars Willy. You don't own a race car. In fact you don't even own a GT right? I beg of you... don't do to a Ford GT what you did to your Testarosso. In the name of good taste please!
Yesterday's Cars and Coffee in Irvine, has about 12 Ford GT's in various colors, stock, and modified cars. IMHO I would not change anything on the outside of these cars except for perhaps removing the rear bumper. I can see some updates to exhaust and engine, but looks wise I think they nailed it from the beginning.
Hello Tenney; Appreciate you providing that link. If I understood correctly the older gentlemen stated....the same block was used for the 348-455?....I know you can increase displacement by a longer stroke...but how thick can the cylinder walls be to increase the bore?, liked how the GTO Ferrari was included in the discussion....what a price difference between those two cars currently......Mark
Think he said 287-455. And as you say, various combos of cranks/pistons essentially made the difference. Not sure re: wall thickness - though liners would vary as well, of course. Each keeping safe distance from the water jackets, would guess!
OK, way off topic, but I love old Pontiacs. Pontiac 287-455 look the same on the outside. But there are 2 versions of the Pontiac V8 block - small crank journal and large crank journal. 287-400 cubic inch have a 3" crank journal, 421-455 have 3.25" crank journal. Displacement, bore, stroke 287, 3.75, 3.25 = smallest stock Pontiac V8 501, 4.211, 4.50 = largest displacement possible using stock Pontiac V8 block, carefully selected, measured, and machined. Most blocks would not support this large of bore. It's commonly accepted that most Pontiac V8 blocks should be able to run a 4.1825 bore and stay out of the water jacket (sonic test before machining to be sure).
No he set up and rebuilt the Original Lucas Mechanical FI on 0846 and it really works great. As far as FI goes he's the one. Very nice guy as well. On P 4/5 C we're considering a sail and other aero changes if we continue.
