At least it won't be hot this week............
Going to lunch today in Cleburne, I looked up at the temp. guage on my mirror. 104 at 12:45. Twenty bucks says we break the record for consecutive 100+ degree days, which is 42. Right now we are in second at 30 I believe. I didn't live through the heatwave back in 1980 but I'm sure you guys must remember that.
so true, I appreciate these cold fronts so I can get outside work on the house, go for a run, cook eggs on the sidewalk...
Yep, tied for 2nd at the moment, and we may reach the 42 days. For severity, though, 1980 was still more brutal, with actual temps over 110 starting in early-mid July, IIRC (this was before being told how hot we "should" feel like it was - the "Heat Index"). We knew it was brutal. I was about your age at that time, btw. It'll take the dread out of wearing your Kevlar, for sure.
I can imagine how brutal it was. When I watch the weather everyday, they'll show records for high and low temps. The record highs are usually from the date back in 1980. It's going to be worse up north. I have family living east of Lawton, OK, and they told me they were supposed to have 4 days straight of temps over 110. And that's before you factor in the heat index. I don't even want to know what it would be at that point...
Took this pic the other day... pretty hot... https://fbcdn-sphotos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-snc6/284550_784565891689_18800375_38265241_1023088_n.jpg
The outside air temperature in the Rolls-Royce only goes to 100, but it is a nice round real guage. Mai just told me that the EPA had a meeting and everybody in her group agreed to turn their home thermostat to 78-80 to save electricity. I said fine, but our AC can only get that low if it runs all the time anyway with the thermostat on 75. And, I get to avoid watering the yard because of a city ban.
We could not take the heat any more. Had to get to some place cooler... South Beach Miami ) No snow but definitely cooler.
