In the Chicago Spotter's Thread, someone posted a picture of an Iowan Saleen S7! So on one of the beginning pages, you can make that Saleen rumour a reality.
Matt, Can you just post the link address off F-chat? Also, Does anyone other than me, think this is Freaking Cool??? http://www.admcars.com/inventorymanager.php?action=view&Id=262943
I saw that car in person a few weeks ago. Its not bad, maybe at under $20,000 it would be fun to have. They have a lot of replicas including a Jag XK. I was pissed when I walked in and were not advertising that the cars are replicas as you can spot that they are from a mile away.
More confirmation of the Saleen S7 -- all part of the same owner's collection located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Wow, I would love to know how to contact him about bringing one of his cars to the Concours in September. We are featuring both the history of Mercedes and Exotics and he has both.
+1! I actually noticed that on the Saleen. IDK which state those plates are from on the black Saleen and Ford GT.
The Saleen has a temp tag and the Ford GT looks like an Iowa Plate. If you look at the Iowa Plate on the Saleen in the Chicago thread you can clearly see the number and that it is an Iowa plate.
Good point re: the Iowa tags, however the photos were all taken by the owner and not necessarily intended as evidence of location. Cedar Rapids residents could attest to seeing several of the cars around town on various occasions. A few more photos with proof of the Iowa tags...note the Jeep and Porsche GT in earlier photos. Alright. Well, I was just wondering as it did cross my mind. I understand. That's a crazy collection!
Does anyone know approximately how many NSX's (either brand) are in the DM area ? I've seen 4 in the last week. 2 Red, 1 White, 1 Yellow. 2 red ones had Iowa plates, the others I didn't get a good enough look at.
My dad sent me these pics today. He was out at Glen Oaks golfing and saw this Mazer QP and RR Phantom Coupe Image Unavailable, Please Login
Greetings. Longtime-lurker, first-time poster. I'm Chris from Davenport. Well, I read over this entire thread, and I gotta say the amount of skepticism about ANY exotics in Iowa was at first entertaining, but then got almost offensive lol. Why it's so hard to believe, I truely have no idea. 10-15 years ago, they may have been a bit rare around these parts, but these days, we have more exotics running around than I ever would have dreamed of when I was a child growing up in the 80's and 90's, obsessing over anything from Italy and the rest of Europe. Here in Davenport (and just the Quad-Cities and surrounding areas in general), we have enough sportscars and exotics running around that many would probably be surprised. Acura: a few NSX's. An older red one which can be seen often. Aston Martin: a beige DB7 Volante with IA dealer plates, but only seen once and haven't seen since. Seen a DB9 Volante, but had IL plates and only seen once. Audi: at least one black R8 (lives near my grandpa), rumor of another white one. Bentley: a few older models, as well as a white Continental GTC and my grandpa just recently sold his blue '03 Arnage R. BMW: don't really consider them exotic, though there was an Alpina B8 here about 8 years ago. Corvette: quite a handful of ZR1's already. Lesser models are about as common as Mustangs. Dodge Viper: enough Vipers running around here to almost have no "shock value" when spotted. Ferrari: have seen 308's, 328's, F355's, 360's, and 550 Maranellos around here. One guy had a red 360 Modena and now drives a red 360 Spider. Another guy near my friend just took delivery of a classic Ferrari Dino 246. Ford GT: there's about 5 running around here. Lamborghini: a couple Gallardo coupes and at least one Spider. Also recently a candy-red Murc LP-640. Never seen a real Countach or Diablo around here, unfortunately. In the 70's, my grandpa (mom's dad) had a yellow Miura P400. I know it doesn't matter now, but still awesome to know. Lotus: more than a handful of Elises running around, and a few older and newer Esprits have been sited with IA tags. I know of an Esprit S3 between here and Blue Grass. Maserati: have seen a number of older models, as well as a newer Coupe, GrandSport (lives in Port Byron though), and one, possibly two Quattroportes. Mercedes: Numberous SL's of all variants. Recently an SLS AMG was sold, but dunno if owner is local. Mercedes-McLaren SLR: rumor of two, but there's one silver one whose owner also has a silver Maybach 57. From the Illinois side (Moline I believe), but are more often seen driving over here (may work on IA side). Nissan: haven't seen a GT-R here, but spotted a dark blue one heading towards IA City with IA tags a couple weeks ago. Porsche: again, almost as common as Corvettes around here. Have seen a 997 GT3 in Bettendorf, but nothing better than that (doesn't mean they don't exist around here). Saleen: besides the obvious Mustangs around here, there is a silver S7. I about **** when I first saw it. All have IA plates unless otherwise noted, and most are local (Scott county or nearby counties). And I'm quite certain I'm forgetting plenty. I'm terrible when it comes to having a camera around in time to catch exotics around here, even my cellphone, but I'll try to grab ones when I can just to help verify some of these claims. Also, two of the Ford GT's, two of the Vipers, the Saleen S7 and the red Murc LP-640 are all owned by the same guy here in Davenport. The rumor is that the Murc replaced the S7, but right now it's just a rumor. Often you'll see a few of his cars being driven around together because he likes to drive around with his buddies driving his cars. Wouldn't that be nice lol. In Muscatine, I know there's a red 512TR with the plates "FLAT 12", and in Clinton, a doctor has a green Murcielago (pre-LP-640), a black Murc LP-640 Roadster, and supposedly another orange Lambo, but everyone who's seen it can't tell me what freakin' model it is. I'm guessing a Gallardo, but can't be sure. There's also a black Elise with a widebody kit on it from Clinton county. Another guy I personally know in Morrison, IL had a red 308 GTSi and now has a red '98 F355 Spider. Who knows what else is lurking around here, but as has been said, many people who think of Iowa as just nothing but corn fields and farm houses would be pleasantly surprised should they visit any of the metro areas and their surrounding areas. I've been obsessed with exotics my entire life, and I have to say that I'm not disappointed with what's driving around in the state of Iowa. What I AM shocked about, though, is that there's a freakin' 288 GTO and an F50 in this state. And St. Donatus, I'm up that way every once in a while on my motorcycle (the NE section of Iowa, mostly north of Dubuque, is surprisingly scenic, hilly, and curvy: a car and motorcyclist's haven for fun roads). If I'd have known about that FCA meet up there, I'd have been there for sure. I've only seen an F50 once in my life, and there were actually two of them: the summer of '97 at Road America during the Brian Redman/Merryl Lynch Int'l Challenge. Seeing/hearing the two of them scream past us on the track is something I'll never forget. If I could see an F50 again, I'd die a happy man. Being older now (26 lol), I know I'd appreciate it a lot more than I did when I was only almost 13. Also, this is gonna sound really corny, but what would be the chance I could ever get a ride in anyone's Lambo? It's been the car company of my obsession since childhood, and if I could ever ride in one, ESPECIALLY a Diablo (that car WAS my childhood throughout the '90's), it would be a dream come true for me, and I'd likely die a very, very happy person lol. And what would be the best way to stay in touch with anyone for any gatherings on the eastern portion of the state? As a kid, I used to travel all over the MidWest with my dad just to see these cars (thanks, dad!) and sit in a few when the salesman were nice enough (thanks, Motorcars Int'l!) Being able to see such cars (Diablos, F50, etc) in such short distances from here would be nothing short of awesome. Sorry for the lengthy post, but I had to pipe in. As a kid, this was the stuff that I literally dreamed about, and sometimes still do.
There was a gorgeous black Ferrari 360 pulled into the BMW/Mercedes dealership on Hickman and 100th last night. Anyone else see it or know about it ?
I was in Des Moines this weekend and all I saw was a BMW M6 cabriolet, Jaguar XKR-175, a few BMW M5's, an Audi TT-S roadster, and a Corvette ZR1.
