Apparently #6432 is not the only Islero movie star: http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_327569-Lamborghini-Islero-1968.html An early Islero GT with tear drop blinkers and Roma registration. Curious to know which VIN this is and what happened with the car?
#6411 offered for sale in USA by Forza for 175.000 US$.... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200635435838&fromMakeTrack=true&ssPageName=VIP:watchlink:top:en 1st time I'm seing "bumperets" on an Islero... is that original or been added in USA ?
It shouldn't be too hard to figure out. The color appears to be Bronzo Scurro, there are probably only 4 or 5 Isleros painted in that color. As the owner of #6243 which was originally (and is now) Bronzo Scurro, these photos obviously caught my attention. I found the video of the segment in which the Islero in question is featured. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WFjGvsIMRrQ&NR=1[/ame] The film was released in April 1969. The background scenery in the film appears to be shot in Autumn of 1968. So Isleros built later would be ruled out. The interior of the car is a light color which eliminates #6228. The leather around the Speedo and Tach is a light creme color which is the same color that is in #6243, however while there isn't a great shot of the interior it does appear that the entire interior is the same creme color. (6243 is senape/mustard). The most usual feature on the car in the film is the trim around the grill opening under the front bumper. The center part of the bottom of the trim appears to be blacked out. I have never seen this on another Islero. Posts #829 and #97 on this thread show pictures of Isleros with the entire trim blacked out. However those are not period photos. Joe
Here are the "bronzo scuro/senape" in the right period : 6111 6144 6186 => delivered to Auto Elite in August 1967 6231 6234 6255 => delivered to SEA on 2nd October 1968 so I would assume it could be #6186 or #6255, as the others were exported ! My preference is for #6255, considering that the production could have asked the factory for the loan of an Islero => than #6255 was for sure ready in begining of Autumn. Delivery could have been delayed... assuming that the production just needed the car for few days to take these exterior shoots... my 2 cents !
Arnoud, Your car seems very nice, I'm sad you need to seperate and I'm sad you were not present last year at the Islero meeting organized by our fellow Marcel Wallenburg. With such pricing I don't think you will have problem to make a quick sale, looking at the 125.000 asked by the sellers of the 2 others well know... without any movement for years... Hope to cross it one day on the other side of Channel !
I'm very very curious to see how this Islero auction sale will happen in 20 days ???? no reserve price !!! http://www.rmauctions.com/FeatureCars.cfm?SaleCode=MO11&CarID=r175&fc=0
Whats with the dash on that car? Is that correct? For that price I should buy another! Does any one know any thing about this car?
Thanks for the bronzo scuro list and the youtube link ! I dont think its #6255 because the car in the movie has the tear drop blinkers on the front wings and #6255 is one of the first cars with the round blinkers or at least it had the round blinkers when it was pictured in South Africa in the nineties. At that time the car was still bronzo scuro/senape. As for now my bets will go to #6186.
Quote from the auction description: Its luxurious passenger accommodations included full leather upholstery and standard air conditioning, plus power-assisted windows and steering. Some drivers should wish but none of the Isleros had power assisted steering. Also #6662 was delivered without air conditioning and the interior picture shows that the car doesn't have the original air conditioning unit installed. Islero with this unit have it on the dash in front of the passenger.
registration in the movie is "DO4578 Roma"... so it could be a false number from the production for the movie instead of a "PROVA BO" from the factory or the real registration number of owner... customer of Auto Elite ? About the "tear drops" blinkers... when I bought #6009 back in December 2008, it was fitted with the round blinkers... so I'm not that confident with this argument !
Is it the plate holder that reveals thats a Swiss car? Sorry, dont know the vin. The Islero is at Manro Classic Auto & Musik Museum, Salzburg. http://www.manro-classic.at/cms/lamborghini_islero_page
Dear Oliver, Thank you very much for your kind note! I am indeed very sad to separate from the car and equally upset that I was not able to join you (my fellow Isleristi) at last years Islero meeting. For anybody who is perhaps intested in seeing updated pictures of the car I have have listed it here (reduced price to £62,000): http://www.finecars.cc/en/detail/car/135930/index.html Best regards to you all, Arnoud
#6009 was certainly delivered with tear drop blinkers. It was with tear drop blinkers in Sport Auto July 1968 and at Lemans in 1975. I believe that the change from tear drop to round blinkers took place before production 83 (#6255) Below are my brief observations on the blinkers. Last tear drop blinkers: 76 / #6222 77 / #6228 79 / #6231 First round blinkers: 83 / #6255 84 / #6243 87 / #6264 Identifaction needed: 80 / #6111 81 / #6240 82 / #6246
Are you sure about #6234 I've that one as Silver / black in my records. Probably you meant #6243. Also delivery date for #6186 should be July 1968. The movie shows a car without air conditioning unit, which means that we can remove #6231 and #6243 from the list of candidates.
Austrian Islero GT with small GTS air vents. Could this be the same car as in post #745 ? http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=140192182&postcount=745

Everyone on here should check out http://www.bobileff.com/ cars for sale, there is a beautiful Islero S1 #6342. Asking $199,000.00. Great looking paint, although I would not choose that color, interior also looks more Maserati than Lambo, but looks great none the less. Can someone tell me who runs ILR? I really want my cars Info updated..... I'm posting a couple more pics of 6489, these are from the mechanics shop, Dino Motors. Johannes did a bunch of work including new radiator fan mountings. It seems the factory just sort of shoved the fan mounting bolts through the radiator and held those bolts in place with large plastic washers and nuts....really all original! I've know about since I got the car, now was the time to set it right. So the radiator was removed and custom made brackets were mounted - radiator was then cleaned, a small leak repaired, and repainted. Car holds temp better now. Several electrical problems were also fixed. Minor carburetor adjustments were made. The car runs and sounds great. Im looking forward to a long drive- TBC Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
