Rain day yesterday, so we went to the movies. All the flicks I wanted to see had been bumped-out to make room for Harry Potter showing in 20 theaters all stating at 10min increments. So we went with the old folks (not a single teen in our movie) and saw- Midnight in Paris.

Starts slow, had me worried that it was just another couples film. But then it took a weird turn and was a neat little movie. I'd give it a "B"

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2.

    7/10.

While Harry Potter 7.1 followed the book faithfully to the film's detriment, the second half has the opposite problem. The second half of the book was better in most respects, and the deviations from the book were rarely, if ever, improvements.

    ***POSSIBLE SPOILERS***

The pace of the film was less consistent than the pace of the book, and the buildup to the final battles was all but eliminated. There is a very contrived scene where the entire DA runs into the main hall as Snape is giving a speech, which was not in the book. Ravenclaw Tower does not appear in the film at all. The Carrows are background figures. The Room of Requirement scene did nothing with Crabbe's character. Fred's death is hardly a blip on the radar. The dialogue between Harry and Voldemort was eliminated during the fight in exchange for some uninteresting special effects. There is more unnecessary drama with the snake and a long scene which did not have to be in the movie where the snake does battle with Ron and Hermione. The filmmakers left in the unnecessary fan service where Weasley kills Lestrange, although she dies in an unusual manner. Voldemort does not die in the same way that he does in the book. Finally, at the beginning of the film, Griphook's motivations are unexplained, although the book explains his character and motivations well.

There are many more deviations, but I thought that the movie suffered for changing the above.

On the positive side, Snape's death was actually better in the film than it was in the book.

I agree with all of this. but I think they nailed the Snape/Prince's tale so well I can forgive them to a degree for the rest. you sould like me after watching each of the Lord of the rings movies as they came out. ;)

I watched WAll ST. 2 this weekend very predictable. I was suprised to see all the real financial people in it not just the reg cnbc people but also non anchors like Vince Farrell was in one segment was suprised they didn't get Greenspan in there. Got a kick out of the scene with Bud Fox.

I caught most of the Bee Movie a few days back and kinda liked it.

I do have one hankering no pun intended but since they made a Simpsons movie they should make a King of The Hill movie!!!

Finally got to see it the other night via Netflix. Yeah it wasn't the best film but despite the campy acting the script wasn't all that bad, not the ending I was expecting but that was the fun of it anyway.

I thought the ending was just odd and unfulfilling. Could guess what happened but wasn't for sure - I don't like that w/ simple movies.

The Eagle. A sequel of sorts to Centurion that came out last year.

I enjoyed it, but there are some rough and disturbing parts. Actually it is the gore, the most disturbing the violence or killing isn't really shown.

    Probably 7/10. Centurion was 7.5/10.

Saw Capt. America yesterday. It was kind of slow in the beginning but got better. Yeah it's predictable but, superhero movies are fun and entertaining. Ties in with the Avengers movie that is coming out. Speaking of, the movies never over until the lights turn on....

    Sanctum - on DVD.

Rated R because for some completely unknown reason a decent aussie movie was ruined by the need to drop the F-bomb every 5 minutes. Outside of that - I have no idea why it had an R rating could've been a straight up PG.

    All in all - 6/10

This is certainly a bizarre movie. I can't say I recommend it unless you're British. It's sort of like Team American World Police of a WW2 comedy (?).

The Nazi's have taken over England and the Scots take England back. Lots of violence, blood, decapitation, etc. Also some puppets screwing. Cliche's of Americans, Poles, Scots, the French and of course Germans.

The best part is the sculpting of the characters. I have to say the creations of Himmler, Goering, and Goebbels were really clever (and very unflattering).

Oh, and Hitler is a gay cross-dresser.

The Smurfs. Decent kids movie although the theater was surprisingly full of older couples and teenagers as well It might end up surprising people by how much it grosses.

Strange to see Neil Patrick Harris in a role of a straight married man since everyone knows he likes to smurf dudes in the smurfer.

I can't wait for Hangover 3, should there be one :D
