    Hi,

I'm thinking of trading in my 360 for a F430. I've done a test drive with a F430 which has a capristo exhaust. What I noticed was a hissing sound. Strangely, I only hear it inside (on drivers seat) and not outside the car (maybe too much exhaust noise). It's progressive: The more throttle the more hissing noise. The hissing noise is not overruling the exhaust sound but it's certainly present and reduces the exhaust noise enjoyment.
I've driven another F430 a few weeks ago (not sure about exhaust, but quite certain its not capristo) and didn't notice this hissing sound.
Does a capristo exhaust normally make this hissing kind of hissing sound?
I also noticed the capristo exhaust has vent holes, by design appearantly, could
    that be it? (http://www.capristoexhaust.us/Ferrari-Capristo-Valved-Exhaust-System-for-430-p/f430%20ts.htm)

Vent holes on the Capristo exhaust certainly does not make such hissing noise. I think you should look for another issue on this car which has nothing related to the exhaust. It's very difficult to make a diagnosis from distance with too few info. A hissing sound means there is a leak. I would start with the intake manifold gaskets ;) But it's not your F430, so you can move on another one having no issues ;)

Today I went again to the dealer after he said he found out the problem.
And indeed the hissing sound is gone now. The hissing noise was because the
insulation to the cabin wasn't fitted correctly leaving space through which the
engine sound (probably the distribution chain noise) came through to the cabin.
After all it had nothing to do with the capristo.
After another test drive I bought the F430. It also has some nice carbon extra's.

Congrats on the purchase! I drove a 430 with a tubi and noticed it was a heck of a lot louder than mine with the stock exhaust. I have heard a hissing sound on the interstate with mine, maybe I have a seal issue as well. Thanks for the info, I'm sure it will be helpful to lots of us.

Very nice choice Paul! You made a great purchase of car with great options. Just love it! You will not driving incognito in Holland :)

If you have questions on your F430, you know where to ask them :)

PS : what Capristo exhaust do you have? Race or Twin Sound ?
